I would second that, first of, this poll is stupid, three americans and one frenchman, and then titling it Best goalkeeper right now?

Buffon played pretty damn good in the Euro, too bad Totti and co. weren't appreciating it.

A close second would be Casillas, from Spain.

 

Yes, good stuff. Love it. Must be a Brit taking the piss out of Americans. Also funny how he intentionally misspells two out of the four names. Shame the Troll of the Year has already been awarded, there's some talent here obviously.

I looked over the threads and a GK I do not see that deserves consideration is Reading's American Marcus Hahnemann. I watched him a couple of times last season and liked his play.

 

This has been said numerous times already. Actually, I think it's been said at least once each week since the poll was started

 

Shay Given (Newcastle/Republic of Ireland) is another keeper who is up there.

 

I think that Gianluigi Buffon is the best goalkeeper right now. Timo Hildebrand is also near the top.

 

There has already been two or three "best keeper" polls in the past couple of months--- pretty explict "best in the world" polls.

Where does it say "best in world" -- we've already done that. Several times.

Paul Robinson of Spurs and England is on the up.

Best keeper in the Prem is Cech. Then Cudicini.

 

Buffon is the best goalkeeper on earth today but out of the four i put Barthez at the top because of his flair and CRAZY determination.

You are absolutely correct... American Keepers (Keller, Carroll, Friedel) are on a par with Barthez...


....And nowhere near the quality of Cech or Cudicini...

 

He's never had much of a defense, though...at least not with NUFC. I mean...c'mon...Titus Bramble? Why the hell is that guy even playing?!?! You know your team's defense is in shambles when Boumsong is brought in as your "defensive hero"...he's not bad, but c'mon...BOUMSONG?!?! You can do better, Graeme...

 

This poll kind of sucks, the keepers you list all suck, I don't think any of them are anywhere near the top 10 keepers in the world.

Holland-Lobont
Portugal-Vitor Baia
Turkey-Rustu(does Cordoba still play there?)
Belgium-Carini(not sure if he still plays there though)

Anyways, out of those choices I'd say Keller's the best, but I obviously I haven't seen him play for a while so I can't really say he's THE best AT the moment.
