So you're saying he starts for any team? How about Germany with Neuer, Adler, and Weidenfeller (who really ought to be the third GK called up)? Or Chelsea with Cech? I recognize Valdes is a good keeper, but good enough to start for any other team? I'm not sure, were he German, he'd even get called up.
No, but he is good enough to do his job for any team in a way that the team's success is not weakened by him. Not saying he is the best current goalie.
I was so astounded by the bad Goalkeeping in the confederate cup, especially coming from Casillas, Buffon and Muslera. Sure they had reflex saves... all GK have reflex saves.. what makes a great GK is not giving rebounds to the middle of the box, not taking in freekicks which don't hit the top corner... and not making mistakes on crosses... Sure all GK make mistakes.. but the great ones make a lot less, this Confed Cup really makes me look differently at what you guys consider top GK over in Europe. Because none of those are that. Mexican GK was another one which PULLED HIS ARMS BACK!! on a freekick...
