Hopefully this should stimulate some interesting discussion and would be really interested to know who people think are vital to their team's success. I will get things started with my team Seongnam!

    1. Dudu - absolute class, a cut above the rest
    2. Sang-shik - a rock in defence or midfield.
    3. Mota - creates many goalscoring chanes for teammates and chips in wht some himself.

I don't really have a team I root for in the league, so I'll just post whoever I think are the most important players for their respective clubs :)

    Suwon
    ------
    1. Mato. Hands down the best defender and leader in the league.
    2. Lee Kwan-woo. Their playmaker in midfield.
    3. Edu. Goalscorer and playmaker.

Honorable mention: Lee Jung-soo, Lee Woon-jae, and Shin Young-rok.

    Seongnam
    ---------
    1. Mota. Their 4-3-3 is worthless without him and it showed last season.
    2. Dudu. Goalscorer. An athletic freak.
    3. Jang Hak-young. Runs their offense from deep in the left.

Honorable mention: Kim Sang-shik, Jo Byung-guk, and Kim Jung-woo.

    FC Seoul
    --------
    1. Adi. The best defender in the league behind Mato. Also great at getting forward.
    2. Lee Eul-yong. Leader and a playmaker in midfield.
    3. Park Ju-young. Goalscorer and a playmaker in the final third.

Honorable mention: Lee Min-sung, Choi Won-kwon, and Kim Byung-ji.

    Ulsan
    -----
    1. Lee Sang-ho. The engine of the team. Makes things happen for them in midfield and final third.
    2. Yeom Ki-hoon. Goalscorer and dead-ball specialist.
    3. Park Byung-kyu. Fantastic defender. One of the most underrated players in the league.

Honorable mention: Woo Sung-yong, Kim Young-sam, and Hyun Young-min.

    Pohang
    ------
    1. Kim Ki-dong. A leader and a playmaker from deep in the midfield. Also a good defender.
    2. Denilson. Another athletic freak. Makes things happen in the final third with his skills on the ball.
    3. Choi Hyo-jin. A terror down the right flank.

Honorable mention: Jo Sung-hwan, Hwang Jin-sung, and Park Won-jae.

    Incheon
    -------
    1. Kim Sang-rok. Playmaker and goalscorer.
    2. Im Joong-yong. Their captain/leader. Keeps the backline together.

Honorable mention: Radoncic, Jeon Jae-ho, and Kim Hak-chul.

    Dajeon

    3. Kim Yong-tae. Excellent winger with ball skills.

Honorable mention: Choi Eun-sung, and Lee Sung-woon.

    Daegu

I'm surprised you'd think Park Byungkyu is an important piece to Ulsan's squad. I couldn't even say he's the top three defender in the club. In like two games this season, he's let opponent players just pass him by as if he was some kind of a human pylon. Yoo Kyungryul did really well for us last season and although he's only carrying a portion of that success through this season, I still feel he's good enough material to get another test for the national team, although it probably isn't happening.

As for the top three players, it's hard to say. Ulsan is a team that is carried by different set of players each season. Last year, it was Yoo KR, Woo Sungyong, and Almir, this year, it's Oh Jangeun, Hyun Youngmin, and Lee Sangho.

Isn't Park Byung-kyu coming off a pretty bad injury?

I've always thought he was a solid defender. His football IQ is top notch and he's also a tough defender on the ball. Lack of size hurts him a lot, tho.

How the hell did I leave out Kim Chi-woo? He should be on top of the list.

Is he? I should know but I don't lol

Would you say Park Byungkyu is a better defender than Yoo Kyungryul though? I admit Yoo KR is not the smartest player, but defending is a lot more about execution than the thinking behind it. If he stops the ball, I say that's smart enough, and I think Yoo KR does that better than Park BK.

By the way - I think you also missed Cho Jaejin and Dejan. :)

Yoo Kyung-ryul is a stud. Him and Park Byung-kyu are two different type of defenders, but I like Yoo Kyung-ryul a lot as well. And I've always liked Park Dong-hyuk.

It's a mystery why Ulsan's defenders never get called up to play for the NT on consistent basis. They've been the best defensive team in the league for as long as I can remember and it just doesn't make sense why we need defenders from crappy defensive teams like Jeonnam and Jeonbuk.

P.S: You can't expect me to give props to JJJ.

    Busan I'Park

    1. Ahn Jung-hwan - leads our team's offense.
    2. Lee Seung-hyeon - now returns to what he was and revitalizes in flank
    3. Lee Kang-jin - plays an important defensive role in MF
