Anybody playing Mexico. We don't want them to get more separation from us in the bragging rights war, and we got a win to save them last cycle while they couldn't even score a draw. Don't know if they laid down or not. Weren't inside their heads and didn't watch them the game. But I will not give them the benefit of the doubt. Wasn't that their first loss of the hex?

Other than that, rooting for other teams besides the U.S. is difficult. I've been a Dutch football guy from my youth, but they were also dq'ed. So may they all be deadlocked at a nil-nil draw and finish tied for last, or the games just be highly entertaining.

Germany has always been my other team, due to my German parents. I'll also root for CONCACAF teams to do well, and I like the idea of cheering for Iceland.

Ill pull for Mexico in the group stage. I would like to see all 3 or 4 get out of the group stage because it reflects good on the confed as a whole but I hope, at least Mexico, doesn't get any farther. I will pull for Costa Rica until they get eliminated because I have ties there.

    I'm all in for Iceland.

Spent a few lovely summers driving the backroads and I always pick one solid underdog.

I'll root for Hondo and/or Panama too. I like to see infrequent qualifiers get a few wins as you never know when they'll be back (although with the expanded field going forward, it changes the game a bit)

Alexi Lalas cheers for Greece. Tony Meola cheers for Italy.

I guess they are not Americans.

I'll be rooting for whoever plays Costa Rica and Mexico. There's no doubt in my mind they intentionally lost after seeing we were losing 2-0 at half to T&T.

I don't give a damn if it makes our Confederation look bad.

You're fine with saying Mexican-Americans who root for Mexico are not American.

    here
Belgium. I enjoyed following them in the '86 WC. And, I've been a fan since then. Was a big fan of Wilmots as a player (I know, he didn't play in 86) - the guy was outstanding for Belgium. Too bad he was such a lousy manager. And, Martinez seems like a likable guy. (If I was hiring the next U.S. coach, I'd look at Martinez [if he's available after the WC] or Allardyce. They're both experienced managers. Martinez seems to really like the States. Allardyce seems to be available).

    Anyway, Belgium.

Don't put words into my mouth.
I have never said such a thing.

I don't believe Mexican fans should jeer and whistle and boo and throw beer or piss on American players. That is what I have a problem with.

Don't try to spread around your Mexican fake news false narrative crap around here.

Not rooting for any team but if I had a gun to my head and were forced to "pull" for someone, I guess I'd say Iceland.

Not meant as a comeback, you're the salty one looking for confrontation. Anyways, go back to cheering Colombia, now that your team is out of contention.

Just look at the GWOS thread and you can see all the anti-American banter USMNT supporters give Mex-Americans for cheering on Mexico.

We should all root for CONCACAF nations to do as well as possible. I know that hurts, but it benefits the region.

Watching the World Cup without a team that you're specifically "rooting for" is still fun.

I can only speak on my own behalf, not for others.
I have no problem with USA Mexican-Americans who cheer for Mexico as long as they don't cheer against the USA. Especially in unsporting like manners, with negative jeers, projectiles being thrown, and in some cases violence and derogatory words and phrases.

If there are people (you claim) who do complaining about anti-American banter and say bad things about Mexican fans who are solid citizens and behave... ... then they are idiots.
Especially if those USA fans know that some of those kids cheer for USA when Mexico is not playing.

I will watch the World Cup as a neutral spectator, personally speaking.

Since the USA's not in it, I'm just looking forward to a good spectacle, instead.
