As a Father's Day present, my wife gave me the trip to the USA vs. Brasil game. I will be there and will bring a 'converted' US soccer fan (he's Scottish.) Who else?
I will be in Lyon for all the first round games with my wife. It's my wedding present from her. Now if only someone at the ticket service will answer the stupid phone and tell my where i have to pick my tickets I will be super happy. captain, if you speak french give the number a ring and Pm me with what you find out. My french is too rusty to attempt a phone conversation, and besides, all I can get is a recorded message telling me something important and then I get disconnected. HELP!!!
I'm there from the 18th through the 30th, so will be at all US games. A friend of mine (not on Big Soccer) is coming for the group stage, but will change his reservation and stay through the end if the US advances. We couldn't get all four of our group who went to the World Cup together to go, but getting half of us for the Confederations Cup isn't bad!
I'm there for the entire first round, catching all three opening U.S. matches. I leave tomorrow, get into Lyon about 11:00AM on Wednesday. The Magpie
My wife and I will be there for the 1st round and the semi in Paris, providing we get tickets from FIFA. We leave in 23:45 hours! Any word on how we pick them up over there?
I will be there with my perfect wife. It was her birthday present to me. We'll see US/Brazil and US/Cameroon. You can pick-up your tickets after 1pm on the day of the game at: The Snack Shoppe at Lyon B***** (sounds something like "belcore") 85 Avenue De La R********* (sounds something like "Rekbik") I'll come back and put the asterisks if I can figure out what the hell she's saying. I would be greatful if someone else can fix that and post it.
_Place Bellecour (a huge square, right in the center of the city, on the "presqu'ile", between the 2 rivers ( Rhone and Saone) _85 rue de la Republique ( it's got to be what they meant) Here's a map: http://www.maporama.com/share/Map.asp?SESSIONID={06A97235-908D-4732-8B7D-CCC2AFDEB421}&ZoomSet=2 (sorry, address is too long---> copy and paste in your browser) And use this to find other addresses in Lyon: http://france.express-map.com/plan-lyon/ enter address ( street# and street name, city (lyon, in that case), zip code isn't necessary. Have fun there.Lyon is where I'm from, nice city, great food (look for typical local restaurants we call "bouchons", usually cheap and so damn good...) Check this area, while you're there: Saint Jean. That's an old part of the city. There are 2 roman amphitheaters with are worth visiting as well. Here's one ( grand theatre romain de Fourviere) Enjoy your trip!
I'll be there just for the us vs. brasil game with two other yank fans and a temporary yank fan. Can't wait.
Merci, fishbiproduct I am quite sure that you are correct. One further clarification. I'm now pretty sure (based on post in another thread by Captain Splarg) that the recording said FNAC shoppe, (see why I thought it was snack shoppe!) Anyway, best bet now is: FNAC Shop Lyon Place Bellecour 85 Avenue de la Republique Any time after 1pm on game days to get replacement tickets.
Yep, that's what it is: Fnac ( that's a huge music, books, etc store) Trust me about the bouchons, local restaurants Lyon is known as the capital of gastronomy, in France and food is really fantastic, there. I don't know if you're familiar with French food, but, don't be "afraid", try it... Hoping you and your wife have a wonderfull stay.
