This is a league in which PSG regularly scores 5-6 goals against their opponents in league matches while being being knocked out of the CL in the round of 16 or QF, at best.

Inter is top of Serie A and is headed for the Europa League.

Lille is a season removed from avoiding relegation by a point with a -26 goal differential. It would have been crazy to expect them to do much of anything in this tournament.

Yes, and truth be told, having two of their teams make it (like last season) is still a good showing for the French league.

Back in 2017/18 Nice didn't even make group, and Monaco got punked. Only PSG mattered.

PSG are averaging just under 2.2 goals per game...so maybe not regularly getting 5 or 6. Dortmund, Barça, RB Leipzig, Liverpool, Leicester and Man City all averaging more goals per game in league play.

Retired players? Why limit the options?

    It's not as if the players do . . . :p

I had hoped Timo and Adams would have breakout 1st halves of this season.

As it stands they've played only a few more mins combined than I have this season.

On the other hand, their status in the fans' minds has been enhanced by their absence.

Looks like it but it’s much shorter. There’s a cup game on 1/5, and a different cup game on 1/8.

A shorter one, Ligue 1 is back in 3 weeks. Lille plays games before that though on the 5th and 8th (2 separate domestic cup competitions, a la England).

Im really disapointed to not see Weah in the 18 for their cup game. Is he still not ready??

When a player's been out the entire season with an injury this far into the season, I generally stop expecting them to return to the lineup any day now, even if there have been encouraging reports about their recovery. That way instead of being disappointed about each new game in which they fail to feature, I can be pleasantly surprised when their name suddenly shows up on the gameday roster.

The thing about Weah is to be honest if he comes back the last two months of the season it might be really good for him. I think there were a lot of expectations put on him. That transfer fee was pretty high, essentially the same that Dortmund paid for Sancho, albeit Weah was a year older and had ONE loan to Celtic.

It's very unfortunate that he missed almost a year of development, but I still think he was pretty raw to come right in and produce for a top Ligue 1 team. Coming back later in the season, with lowered expectations might end up working well for him as he will be fully settled into the club's standards, etc.

Back in full training is good... hoping he is back in the lineup by Feb.. He has been out-of-sight / out-of-mind for a long time.
