London, Kings Cross train station. Parked myself on the floor next to the Harry Potter platform. Train to Edinburgh in half hour.
I think like 80%of this board has been here. On my Loch Ness tour and just entered the highlands. This country is crazy beautiful, don't think I could ever drive myself around like you did GH I'd never finish. I want to stop pretty much everywhere. Just cracked into my first Irn Bru. Was expecting something that tasted like mountain dew game fuel. I was very surprised at the bubblegum flavor. Loch Ness in 2 hours!
Irn Bru is . . . something. Enjoy the Loch, spot the monster, get a video and then retire. Just enjoy the beauty, history and culture. The just driving around and stopping everywhere method is very rewarding as well, I'd recommend it. Try the haggis, it's much better than you ever imagined.
Was in Denver last weekend for a birthday part at a fancy charcuterie and sour beer place in a recently gentrified part of town. Of course there were Portland Timbers fans who showed up there after the Rapids game.
I used to. . . no longer, but fond memories. But aye, I like the smoky ones. . . whisky, balls, whatever.
Didn't see Nessie yesterday but still had a great time at the Loch. How I tend to explore things is I see something way in the distance and just walk there. Today I've been to Edinburgh castle, Calton Hill, and the top of Arthur's Seat. Needless to say my legs are killing me right now. Going to throw Laphroaig in there with the good whiskys. Super smooth.
Buying tickets outside should be no problem in general. Prices may depend on the game though. Regensburg 28/04 should be less expensive than the last game of the season against Bochum 12/05. But watch out, if St. Pauli are still in the race for promotion I doubt there will be someone outside selling tickets.
I forgot! This was actually addressed on our tour. We had a 5 minute discussion about not going for a swim in Loch Ness. 2 reasons were given. #1 there's a monster in there. #2 when they've had a super cold winter it's 4c when they've had a super warm summer... It's 5c.
Love Laphroaig, it's a classic. Go with some Lagavulin or Oban if you're looking for something else similarly smoky, full bodied. Take Skinut's suggestion if you want something with a real highland kick and go with a young Talisker.
It is also 200m deep and the water is pretty much black. When I was there (which was mid-summer), I did take my shoes of and stick my feet into Loch Ness, closest I dared to swimming. It was cold as f*ck.
