Tonight I am in Long Island City, Queens New York for the most important job interview of my life. Flew out this afternoon, interviews for 7 hours tomorrow and fly home at 9:30 tomorrow night. I was heading to Fifth Hammer brewing, but it closes in 6 minutes. Damn flight delay and time change! Instead, I am a local Irish bar having a sausage roll.
So, my 7 hour series of interviews in NYC went great. The search committee then took me out for dinner. My original 7:00 flight on United (paid for by the interviewers) was cancelled, but I had purchased a flight on a 9:30 flight on American, so I could make dinner. So stupid. United wanted $200 to change my 7:00 flight to 9:00. I ticket on American was $116.00. I checked in to the American flight and, while enjoying a celebratory beer, they delayed it until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. However, the replacement flight on United (originally at 9:00) was delayed until 11:00, so I switched back to United. I have seen way more of LaGuardia Airport than I needed.
Currently in Thailand! This place is pretty damn fantastic. 82 degrees. The people are super nice and the food is fantastic everything tastes super fresh. Only time I haven't smiled was opening that email that said Atlanta won the MLS cup. Impossible to let that get you down in the land of smiles though.
I have not seen one of those yet but I will be on the lookout! I've seen pretty much everything else on a stick.
82 and humid or 82 with low humidity? I heard the humidity could be torture.Be careful who you sleep with
Depends on what you're looking for. If it's sun and beaches you're looking for then it's the Adriatic or Mediterranean you're looking for (Greece, Croatia, Italy) or south of France, Spain and Portugal. If it's riots in the streets. . . France it is. If a mix of Germany & France with breathtaking mountains mixed in the Switzerland is the place for you (and you can dive into Austria as well). Should beer and pot be your thing then the Benelux nations of Belgium and the Netherlands are for you (there's a lot more there than that). Germany is great, but I need to spend more time there. My nephew's take away from Scandinavia so far is the breathtaking juxtaposition between modern and classical. Additionally, it's a place with great cities and vast wilderness and it's laced with history. Personally, it's Scotland that makes my soul sing. Again, some great cities and history with rugged wilderness. The rest of the UK and Ireland are good, but to me Scotland is the best (Full disclosure, my family roots are Scotland and Denmark, so I am biased). I've always wanted to get to the Baltics, but haven't made it yet. I'd combine that with a side trip to St. Petersburg. I've been to Moscow and Sochi and enjoyed Russia, but St. Petersburg is supposed to be sublime.
Sorry, I guess I should have been a little more specific. We plan on going either September or October. We have already been to London, Munich, Salzburg, Malaga, Grenada, Sevilla, Cordoba. I am hoping to get to Scandinavia and she is hoping to go to Italy.
