The curious case of Hull City, Geovanni's image rights and £440k paid to an offshore company Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs have pursued the Tigers over what they believe to be a tax loophole https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/curious-case-hull-city-geovannis-2766003
I didn’t realize Geovanni played for Hull, Man City, and Barca, and that he used to make a whopping amount of money.
His Hull City connection was definitely mentioned here. I was hoping we would see this type of magic from him.
Former San Jose Earthquake player Walter Martinez has passed away! RIP! Walter Julián Martínez Ramos ; born 28 March 1982-11 August 2019)
I like this guy a lot better when he’s not being overpaid by the Quakes to not score goals... Quincy Amarikwa just straight trolled Favio Álvarez with the classic “wah wah”, then looked at Jonathan Dos Santos (who was trying to defuse the situation) and said “I’m in your head.”10/10. pic.twitter.com/IcApjUbLu8— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) August 12, 2019
Former Earthquakes, Rapids, and Fire striker Junior Agogo has passed away at the age of 40 https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49434573
With Walter Martinez at 37 and Junior Agogo at 40, that is two former Quakes and MLS players in a week that have left us! RIP!
We are saddened to hear of the passing of former Quakes striker Junior Agogo. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Rest In Peace, Junior. pic.twitter.com/jvgAdASRYg— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) August 22, 2019
I don’t know if it’s still true, but about 15 years ago, a friend told me his mortgage broker no bachelors degree sister was making more than he was with a masters in engineering. I sure wish Gordo a lot of luck in his new career...
I saw him on tv not long ago but I guess if he isn’t a full timer , he won’t be able to live off of it. Sad though that these guys can’t earn enough during their careers to go on a vacation for a few years. To think Alan Gordon was the first player to come off for David Beckham who was mkaing his first appearance and is now having to be a mortgage broker to make a living while Becks is still making money hand over foot and stands to make even more of a profit with his new Miami team. Doesn’t seem too fair does it?
> Doesn’t seem too fair does it? i think it's analogous to all the early footballers in England before the Premier League took off. If they didn't stay in soccer, all of those footballers went back to working in the trades (e.g. manufacturing, electrician, plumber etc) after their playing careers, and it was very well accepted back then.
Hey, he's not cleaning sewers. Nothing wrong with being a mortgage broker. Why should we feel sorry for him? Firefighters in my neighborhood, with no college education, earn more than MDs with 10+ years training if we want to talk unfair.
