Cato, Francis, Sarkodie (unemployed), Nyassi (playing in Timbuktu?), Sherrod (out of soccer? was it injuries or lack of talent?), all guys who got starts under Dom. That tells me either 1) the league has moved beyond these guys, or 2) Dom valued certain things in his players that others may not value as much.

Dom could have Cato on the Galaxy this year if he wanted him. Suggests that the league has advanced in overall talent level over the past few years, which should come as no surprise.

Dom is merely an assistant coach, no way he has final say on roster decisions like that. For all we know Dom may have wanted Cato on the Galaxy roster and it could have been shot down by those higher up the food chain...

Sigi? He's coached Cato before. Cato's a known commodity to him, yet he allowed him into camp.

Vagenas? Klein? They're no smarter than Sigi and Dom.

I'm just saying we don't know. We do know that at age 25 no MLS team wanted to sign Cato.

We also know that Kofi Sarkodie doesn't appear to be on any professional soccer team's roster as of today. Dude got almost 130 MLS games, almost all under Kinnear, and at 26 he should be just entering his prime as well...

You could have just told us that Sarkodie sucks, we would have believed you.

Maybe Cato’s issues are not just on the field, as didn’t T&T send him home due to personal/personnel issues?

It’s an interesting concept. You go from being a D1 perennial starter and who saw considerable action to being out the game. You would think at least one of them would be offered a USL contract somewhere....

Cato will probably get at least a USL contract somewhere. He's still only 25. The other guys, maybe not. Sherrod played briefly with Sacramento but not sure what happened there. Lingering injuries, or lingering lack of talent? Nyassi plays in Malaysia - on a 2nd division club(!) according to wiki.

Maybe age and injuries may have something to do with it. I know there are only 644 roster spots and 575 field players less the GK's across the league.

Therefore, I'm sure gaining a roster spot in MLS is not an easy task. Still , they are D1 and USL is D2 and you would think those players could or should find a spot on one their 33 teams unless they think the money isn’t there and it's just not worth it.

For the outside backs (Francis and Sarkodie), it is probably, meh, these guys are no better than the ones we have (in USL). Nyassi was very fast and had flashes of brilliance (followed by flashes of boneheaded players). I could see him doing very in USL, but most likely he wanted to play somewhere where there is more money.

I re-edited...there are 644 roster spots and 575 field players.

I’m not sure but at the end of last season, it seemed like Sarkodie was playing hard. Maybe he thought his time with the Quakes not to mention the league was coming to an end. He turns 27 next week and is still young enough to play.

I didn’t care for him that much as a player but I’m sure there has to be a usl or nisa team wanting his services. The only thing it could be is either lack of money or injuries. He went from making $140k last year to $0.00. That isn’t good for him...

Gordon was a great forward in 2012. I hope he gets some goals in Chicago. Sadly, he will turn 37 by seasons end. Wouldn’t it be great if Father Time could stop?

When his playing time is up, maybe he's planning to jump from the Fire to the administrative side of USSoccer!
Actually, I had wondered if he was going to end up at Leon with Lando
