He was great in 2012. So was everybody else, though...

That said, he's actually one of my favorite all-time Quakes.

Yes, i always loved his work ethic on the field. I can't understand why COL sent him to Minnesota. That's so sad. I thought they liked him in COL and that he was instrumental to their success last year?? Even the twitter-verse is saying what a dumb deal this is for COL.

Looks like Colorado is getting younger and more offensive-minded. Makes sense.

I've been fortunate to talk to several non-Quakes players who say he's overrated.

CO must think he's overrated at this point, or maybe they just have better options now. Apparently they couldn't trade him because he is a free agent signing so they had to waive him. If there was just a wink-wink OK if you waive him then we'll throw in another guy for the other CO guy then a lot of good that free agent rule does. Of course I guess he could refuse to go to Minnesota but they probably cleared it with him.

Anyway when I think about Cronin vs. a guy like Godoy there is just no comparison. To me Godoy is way better.

Godoy is one of the best DMs in the league. Surrounded by better players he will shine even more.

Cronin is a serviceable MLS level journeyman.

That international slot would have been nice to have seeing that we have 3 CDMs of our own.

they have hairston who is younger and more technical though not as experienced/dependable. Hairston is the player we shoulddve drafted instead of JJ Koval.

Koval was "Domed" (he was a fine player and could have been very good in MLS but Dom sucked his energy and talent away)

Somehow, I feel like news about Colvey, Pelosi, and Cummings should be in this thread. I have grave doubts that any of these will ever see the field again for the Quakes.

They can go right on ahead with their bad selves and Sam Cronin as their franchise player. We lose some more, ahem, "hardwood" as a result, but I suppose there is some solace in not being the worst.

Oddly enough I think in that article it seemed to indicate that they were somewhat stocked in central midfield. So not even sure how much Sam will play.

Chad Barrett had knee surgery including micro-fracture. They said he's out 4-6 months, but at 31 I assume his playing days are over

I haven't finished listening to this Extra Time Radio broadcast yet, but it is strange how often former Quakes players were mentioned.

Andrew Weibe said Dom Dwyer excels at irritating defenders and is Steven Lenhart-esque (I think that's the word he used).

Talking about the Beita-Morrow TFC goal last weekend, Matt Doyle said it's still incredible that the Quakes let those two go for almost nothing.

Talking about the Sam Cronin "trade" to Minnesota, Matt Doyle thought Cronin was COL's best player.

Not just former Quakes, but members of the 2012 Supporters Shield winner.

I sometimes agree with Matt Doyle but Cronin as CO's best player? He's hit the crack pipe a few too many times on that one.

Last July Dallas beat the Quakes 1-0 at Avaya. Harris received a yellow card in that game.

I didn't watch CO play, but I always thought Cronin was an important part of the Quakes

He was an important part of them being mediocre, in their many mediocre years, yeah, true. :)
