Stevie will take the job imo, the job has its merits Personally I would have liked big Sam to go for it....he always talks about how he could play good at a club that is 'suppose to ' challenge for trinkets etc....it's a different type of management compared to putting out fires
i hope Stevie stays away. he needs to learn how to manage first before getting into the deep end. as an aside, I'm always amazed at ppl who assume that a great player will automatically be a good manager. there are thousands of examples to the opposite!!
This is a mistake... but he must be keen to get into management. Don't know why Rangers would do this.
Yep, agree with that , Sam and I'm not sure Rangers are a good place for StevieG to cut his teeth in management....far too much turmoil over the past few seasons at that club and they're still feeling the after effects .
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has accepted Rangers'offer to become their new manager. (Sunday Mirror)
the more I think about this the less sense it makes. he's just barely completed a full season at youth level. dumb, dumb mistake to go to Rangers, Stevie.
I think it's actually a good move for him. A passionate supporter base where he'll get used to leading his team in front of 50,000 fans. A club that is a near certainty to finish top 3 and make a couple deep cup runs without him as manager - if he can win a couple trophies at Celtic's expense or get the club to the group stage of the Europa League he'll enhance his reputation. If he maintains the status quo it's the fault of the club's basket case status. And if he can't even do that, then he probably shouldn't be in management. Does anybody really think another year in the youth system and then taking over at Ipswich or Sunderland or wherever in the lower leagues is better for him?
Stevie G is a big name and he will attract players to Rangers....will be interesting to see his managing style And realistically he needs to challenge Rodgers / Celtic which is a very difficult task akin to challenging Citeh in the EPL
West Ham striker Andy Carroll, 29, was sent home from training on Monday by manager David Moyes following an angry confrontation. The club is set to launch an investigation into the incident, Moyes did a 3-subs at once change vs City to chase the game. Carroll wasn't one of them and was visibly pissed off about it. can't blame him really.
Rangers don't have the funds to compete with Celtic which will test Gerrard's coaching ability / poaching ability and probably persuading potential players of his vision
I expect to see Ryan Kent or Connor Randall (or similar 20-ish old who is obviously not part of the first team) move up there on a permanent deal and probably loans for 1-2 other youths.
Yeah, wouldn't be surprised to see some loans for the likes of Harry Wilson , Ejaria or Danny Ward to Rangers next season.
Dirk Kuyt Testimonial: He will play in the second half in a Orange old team mates setting against Feyenoord: Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Edwin van der Sar, Phillip Cocu en Ruud van Nistelrooijput on the shirt of Oranje. Louis van Gaal is coaching this special team. Bondscoach Ronald Koeman is filling in the coaching job for Feyenoord that day. In the first half Kuyt plays with former team mates from Liverpool en Fenerbahçe. In that team, called de 'Vrienden van Dirk/Dirk's friends', he welcoms among others Jerzy Dudek, Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Jamie Carragher, Robbie Fowler and Craig Bellamy. That's going to be fun!
And a big pile of former high transfer bills. Could be fun to make a calculation of the total price of what has been payed for them all. All I know is that I wish it was what I have in my bank account.
