watching suarez putting on a masterclass of link-up play and passing ... his vision and technical skills are just wonderful. like we weren't aware of this of course .... sigh ......
Suarez has consistently been the best player....he was exactly the same at Liverpool, playing some next level football....he's always a step ahead of the opposition
Had an argument with some guys on my rec team about letting him go after the World Cup bite. Was it absolutely necessary?
well we all would have loved to keep him, but I think he always was destined for Spain. It's the holy grail for most Latino players, and given that his family had owned property in Barcelona for some years, the writing was on the wall really.
and for some bad Torres news .... Striker Fernando Torres is "conscious and stable" in hospital after suffering a serious head injury in Atletico Madrid's 1-1 draw with Deportivo. The ex-Liverpool and Chelsea striker fell heavily after an 85th-minute aerial challenge by Alex Bergantinos. The Spain international, 32, appeared to be unconscious while being tended by his team-mates, then Atletico medics. "Torres was taken to hospital for tests. He will spend the night under observation," Atletico tweeted.
Brighton was up 1-0 on Newcastle on Tuesday with ten minutes to go, then Newcastle scored twice to take the win. This weekend Brighton collapsed, while Newcastle built on Tuesday's win. The question now isn't whether Newcastle will finish first; it's whether Brighton can hold onto the automatic promotion spot. Because if they can't, their record in the third-through-sixth playoff is pretty crappy.
Fernando Torres has been released from hospital following a sickening head injury sustained during Atlético Madrid’s 1-1 draw at Deportivo La Coruña on Thursday that left him unconscious. Atlético say a CT scan did not reveal any damage to the forward’s head or neck. However, doctors have ordered the 32-year-old to wait 48 hours before practising or playing again. Torres collapsed and lost consciousness after striking his head on the ground as he fell following an aerial clash with the Deportivo midfielder Alex Bergantiños in the 85th minute of Thursday’s contest at the Riazor. The striker was assisted for several minutes by doctors before being taken off on a stretcher and transferred to a hospital.
While not the best GK in the world, it is criminal we allowed him to depart an signing an undoubtedly superior GK. I'd have him over either of our current two - and I was never his biggest fan.
