I like the blue, but in all honesty a the next team we need new colors guys, in tired of the blue or red, I say we go green and be the only team in the east with green after the Miami Dade county flag, blue, green and black
Actually, I feel all the teams named FC are terribly unimaginative. American teams should be named after animal mascots or have flashy sounding names. I like the fusion name, but to say anything else is tacky? Why is that? Why do US soccer fans feel like they have to copy Europe or S. America? I like Miami Fighting Squids. Original, funny and brings thoughts of the beach/ocean..
No... Why does America have to be different from the rest of the world? Why does it have to us against the world, why can't they just be named how every and any other soccer team is named? Are u joking?!? Miami Fighting Squid? smFh aree u kidding me right now? I'm dotty I don't like the sound of that or any name with that format it's cool and not normal
Looks like Inter Miami is taking a commanding lead. I am still partial to Miami United but maybe thats to close to DC.
Thank goodness the majority know what they doing, next thing I know someone gonna come up with Miami Lemon Ceviches as a team name
I won't think, so. It you look at the EPL they more than team that have adopted the United namesake. IE: Manchester United and Newcastle United.
Other teams have adopted it too, here in South America just that it's not English that is spoken, Arabe Unido from Panama I'm sure there is more
Are the Miami Dolphins a stupid name? Are the Detroit Tigers a stupid name? St. Louis Rams? Notre Dame Fighting Irish? Denver Broncos? Miami Marlins? Etc, etc.. The notion soccer fans here have that everything needs to be copied from European or S. American in order for it to be official is pretty lame and unoriginal. So unless we copy names from elsewhere, the league is lame? In my opinion, having obvious copycat names and worse, brand products marketing teams like Chivas USA and NYCFC are what make us look like a second rate league.
it has less to do with being a simple copy and more to do with adopting a name thats usually soccer specific. like the soccer specific stadiums, soccer specific names on other teams in MLS, heck even having sponsors names on the jersey which... as far as i know, has not happened in any other professional league in the USA.
or you can go somewhere else with that mess and leave the thread open for the ppl who want to take it a little more seriously.
I would but after reading the other suggestions I can see you guys need help. The last thing we need in MLS is yet another crappy copycat team with no originality.
i beg to differ. the last thing we need is to sound like a Fisher Price team and have a classier name. No help wanted.
Miami Dolphins, Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks... If those are fisher-price names MLS should follow suit b/c people in this country love baseball and football. It is the uneductaed soccer fans that have trouble accepting this. They thinking slapping FC after the name of the city will make it cool. It does not..
And after NYCFC do we really need any more unoriginal band wagony names from Europe. If so, why not go all the way? Manchester United Miami FC!!!
Ok I didn't say those names are stupid, I said those names are stupid for SOCCER TEAM, football and baseball and any American based sport knock urself the eff out name them the Trojan condoms for all I care, but for soccer let continue the program like everyone else has in the world, why do you want to name a team like they do here?! If you are soccer wise, you do notice hat every and any soccer team has a Nickname it doesn't have to be in the freaking official name!! Man U are the devils, arsenal are the gunners, why do we have to e Miami suns FC why can they be miami FC and then as a nickname be the suns? Please a silly mascot is not necessary... How old are you anyways? With that silly name you sound like you are very young
just because they sound good in traditional American sports doesnt mean it sounds good for everything else. Soccer is the exception, always has been. you can refer to the points i already stated above as to what MLS has done in recent years. Besides, i have stated before there are names that sound badass like Whitecaps, Sounders, Timbers. even that NASL team Ft Lauderdale Strikers sound awesome. What i refuse to accept is Miami Sharks, Miami Gatos (seriously? Cats?), Miami Toros, Manatees and definitely not freaking purple squids. terrible. just terrible.
