The best year for my favorite teams was 2002 or 2008: In 2002, the USA reached the World Cup Quarterfinals, but it wasn't good for me on a club level. I have no idea if I watched the MetroStars (now Red Bulls) then, but they didn't do well. Manchester United, who I wasn't a fan of yet, finished third in 2001-2002, which tied their worst finish in the first 21 seasons the league was called the Premier League. In 2008, Manchester United won the Premier League, Champions League, and Club World Cup. The Red Bulls lost the MLS Cup Final which is the only time they got that far. The USA had 15 points from their 6 games in the Semifinals of World Cup Qualifying, which is their most points in the six World Cups that CONCACAF has had that qualifying format for.
