The OG Ben Hur was very well done and a great piece of film making in the silent era. The True Ben-Hur was an absolute classic that should be required viewing for everyone on Easter Sunday. I haven't seen the new one yet, but everyone involved with it can go die in a fire for trying to remake an already perfect film (except Morgan Freeman, because it probably wasn't his fault, right?).
She was in Caligula, which is "real" porn. She was naked in the movie, but was not involved in any of the hardcore sex.
While I enjoy @bunge 's return to a more classic look; I realize that I have not watched enough Michael Caine movies, let alone British crime dramas. So does anyone have any Michael Caine movies or other similar classics? I've already got "Alfie" on my list as a Michael Caine movie I want to see all the way through (caught it late during halftime of a Fire game once). What else should I add?
The Italian Job is kitchy but not unenjoyable and Hannah and her Sisters is pretty great. But for what I think is his best role and an unbelievably fantastic film that everyone should see, tonight: The Man Who Would Be King
Get Carter....of course. Sleuth (1972 version, just him and Laurence Olivier in a battle of wits. One of two movies in Oscar history where the entire cast was nominated for Academy Awards). Educating Rita (one of my favorite movies, but it helps if you are an Anglophile Literature geek). The Italian Job The Ipcress File (I will admit that I have not watched it, but I have heard it is very good).
A really underrated movie is the Kingsmen. I think the sequel is out this year and it will probably suck. Caine is a peripheral character. But the movie is enjoyable.
Stallone was cringe-worthy in Victory. What an awful character, just horrible. It took him, what, half of the movie to learn not "tackle" the other players, pointy ball style. Idiocy.
Already saw it. I still think it is probably one of the best action movies ever made, if not, best movie ever made. Didn't he say that that movie built him a new house? That's another one I saw partially and never saw all the way through. Need to see that. To all the other suggestions, they are well noted. I just had some fun comments for those.
He has often spoken about being in bad movies, saying that he was very poor when young and never wanted to be again. One of my favorite quotes: "I started with the firm conviction that when I came to the end, I wanted to be regretting the things that I had done, not the things I hadn't."
