How do the Canadian fans that follow their YNTs feel about this roster? More competitive than Canada U-20s were at U-20 qualifying? Expecting more of the same out of that squad as they are leaving a lot of talent from the rest of the country out. The Canadian Premier League launch will provide coast to coast coverage and new talents will be part of the national program. The focus on MLS Academies has not paid off, time to include CPL and other independent academies

A new era of Canadian soccer is about to begin The 1994 #CanMNT would have qualified to USA 94 if it was a 32 team tournament. That roster was made up of CSL grads. The 1998 team made the hex. CSL grads.Wilderness after that. No CSL grads. Spot the trend? Three hours to go. #CanPL— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) April 27, 2019

A few remarks: Refereeing: This quote by David Clanachan sums it. They let the team played and call only very obvious fouls which caught some of the players. David Clanachan to reporters at halftime. #canPL “I’m seeing tough, hard-fought, let ‘em play [brand of soccer]. No diving, no rolling around, no embellishment, none of that stuff. This is the kind of game this country wants, and I think Canadians will respect that."— John Molinaro (@JohnMolinaro) April 27, 2019 Quality of TV production: Simply World class production. The league was wise to partner with Mediapro Quality of play: it's just 1 game and it was windy as hell but it was very entertaining. People didn't quite know what to expect but overall, expectations were exceeded and there nowhere but up to go. I think that the Spring season will be the overall tune up season where clubs create some chemistry and figure things out like who deserves to be on starting XI or not. The Fall season will be the "true" season with a much more competitive edge and increased level of play.
Some good offensive players on the squad. We will be tactically naive and defend poorly. I'm predicting we lose in the usual circumstances.

A CPL rule that will massively help the Canadian program is for teams to have to play a minimum of 3 U21 Canadian players for a minimum total of 1000 minutes per season. There were some skeptics on this rule as they believe it would affect teams flexibility with their rosters. Pacific FC is ahead with theses stats "Over the course of two games, the club’s group of U-21 players have combined to register an impressive 861 minutes."Pacific FC’s U-21 contingent making immediate impact: https://t.co/rgz7yguoDP#ForTheIsle #PacificFC #CanPL pic.twitter.com/tfd2nk0es0— Pacific FC (@Pacificfccpl) May 3, 2019 1 win and 1 loss so far. I expect that this will allow the National team to field much stronger U squads for Olympics Qualifications and World Cup thanks to CPL as they will have clocked lots of professional minutes

Not surprised, the CSA needs to completely rethink how it builds it's rosters and where they find talent. The selection process is flawed

Shrug. That was a pretty meaningless game................................ The quarterfinal was all that mattered, and Canada got the job done. The semifinal shortly after that probably reflected the team that had the better depth. When the teams met in the group stage, it was a much closer contest (one that Canada really could have/should have gotten a better result in after taking a 2-0 lead). If the US wins their game against Mexico in the final..........................they will hold the U17 CONCACAF title, the U20 CONCACAF title, and the Gold Cup title simultaneously for the first time. [At least for a few months anyway ]
