Any idea how CPL will choose their representative without a "champion"?

The league was teasing a unique format for the inaugural season and they claimed that it was done elsewhere around the world. They must have been told in advance and an announcement from the league is imminent

Only logical way would be a split season (Apertura and Clausura) to determine who represents the league in the tournament and could also use the Gold Cup as the perfect time to enable the split season.

The Gold Cup is a little early though; it starts 7 weeks after CPL kickoff. Post-Gold Cup is a good separation point though.

I don't know if it's necessary to do a formal split (I ********ing hate split seasons; they're a dumb gimmick), but they could definitely do a double round-robin for the first 12 games to pick the CPL rep.

Perhaps, the league said they would come up with something unique so you might be right. That would mean that whoever wins the CPL cup at the end of the season would then qualify (logically) for the 2020 CONCACAF League tournament then.

Hate that massive time gap between qualifying and actually playing, but yeah, that makes sense to me.

Oh wow! Just noticed that this new format effectively demoted all Central American leagues as well.

Only Mexico, USA, Canada and CFU Champion qualifies straight to the 2020 Champions League.

Central America will be very upset at this one

    Pretty rightly.

Costa Rican teams have been nearly as good as MLS entrants (there's a gap, but it's not huge). MLS now gets 5 direct entrants into the Champions League, Costa Rica gets 0. There's no competitive justification for that disparity, nor for the ********ing Caribbean champion getting straight in.

Isn't the Canadian Championship going to interfere with CONCACAF League. I was looking at the dates and Canadian Championship runs from May to September and CONCACAF League will run from July to November. The CPL teams start in the first and second round qualifying for Canadian Championship in May and June which at least 3 CPL teams should make it to the third round. Depending on what team it is, it could create scheduling problems.

That's a CSA decision, the league and fans aren't happy about it one bit.

He still got it. 2 goals in 3 games for Hutchinson still playing at that level at his age. Besiktas are looking to extend his contract according to sources

He will be at the Gold Cup but said it would be his last international appearance... Next behind him is Samuel Piette from Montreal Impact, however, if Stephen Eustaquio (Cruz Azul) commits to Canada, he'd be ahead of Piette

Liam Millar came off the bench for Kilmarnock in a 1-0 loss to Celtic.

Great game and it was fun seeing Liam Millar vs Tim Weah

Most likely, the games will be on DAZN and beIN but also, the deal makes it possible to sell content to other medias such as Canadian sports channels or other media plateform

Canadian Premier League joins forces with Spain-based media partner
    https://www.vancourier.com/canadian...ces-with-spain-based-media-partner-1.23640212

A source said Mediapro is investing $200 million into the Canadian project over the lifetime of the deal. Scott Mitchell, CEO of Canadian Soccer Business, calls it "the single-largest commitment any company has ever made in terms of soccer in Canada."

The agreement gives Mediapro global and domestic media rights to the CPL, the Canadian Championship and rights for all home games of the Canadian men's and women's teams. It also includes rights to League 1 Ontario matches, a feeder league under the CPL umbrella.
