Seems like with Vagner Love's departure, Cyle Larin will get regular starts for Besiktas!
and Jonathan David scores again, all of his goals are as a sub player, to give Gent the 3-1 lead (4-1 on aggregate) 2 goals in 2 games in Europe. and 5 goals in 4 games in the 2018-2019 season. he's currently scored in every game he's played for Gent. Totaling something like 65 minutes.
That's crazy! Why the hell isn't he starting? OTOH, perhaps being a sub is some kinda good luck at this point!
He's incredible at such a young age...18!!! Jonathan David. 5 goals. 67 minutes played. #GNTJAG #KAAGent #COBW pic.twitter.com/VFB311jrRQ— KAA Gent News (@KaaGentNews) August 16, 2018
David just like Davies are also opening the door for more Canadians. David is from Canada, a football market that few clubs have walked to date. The opening of the Ghent pearl also opens the eyes of other teams. "In the meantime I already received phones from Club Brugge and Anderlecht to work with them for Canadian talents in the future", says David Nikos Mavromaras, David's agent in Het Nieuwsblad. https://www.voetbalkrant.com/nl/nie...ten-in-actie-na-ontluiking-van-jonathan-david those 2 clubs are also on the bigger side when it comes to Belgium football.
Exactly! Canada always had the talent and surprisingly, great academies. The structure was nonexistent until now. Those who think CPL will be weak will be surprised. What do you think will happen when they are finally given the professional environment to push themselves to the next level? They will thrive and reach their potential.

Ufa is from a good league in Russia, but their 10.676 coefficient is low by the standards of a club in the Playoff Round. Bordeaux's 11.283 is a little better than Ufa's. Bordeaux used to be much better than they are now. In 2009-2010, they had 5 wins and 1 draw in a Champions League group that had Bayern Munich and Juventus! Bordeaux is the most recent club to win both Group Stage games against Bayern Munich. Partizan has a 17.000, but that's much worse than Besiktas's 57.000.
http://www.nesoccerjournal.com/berkshire-jacob-shaffelburg-professional-soccer-options/ Jacob Shaffelburg, the reigning Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year, has significant interest to sign a professional contract in Europe or with Major League Soccer, said a source with direct knowledge of the situation. Shaffelburg, a Nova Scotia native entering his senior season at the Berkshire School, could sign with MLS and be eligible for the 2019 MLS SuperDraft in January. German clubs 1. FC Nürnberg, Werder Bremen and Fortuna Dusseldorf have also shown interest in the forward

I'm very comfortable in saying that Scott Arified is among the top midfield in CONCACAF. He proved it during is tenure at Burnley in EPL and continues in Scottish premiership. I would say Busti is our best prospect so far... #1 Milan Borjan (30) Red Star, Superliga - Serbia His team is in the Champions League qualification finals. #2 Jayson Leutwiler (29), Blackburn, Championship Tied #2 (up and coming fast) Alessandro Busti (18), Juventus U19 #3 Maxime Crepeau (24), Ottawa Fury, USL #4 Axel Desjardins (18), Spezia, Serie B #5 Sebatian Breza (20), Potenza, Serie C
I hope, as CPL does have potential but the reality is that it will take several years for it to compete. We can't expect a newly formed league, with a cap budget to boot, to compete with MLS who also has a cap budget or against leagues who have no cap budget ala Liga MX. It will be difficult at first. Just look at how MLS started and how it has improved over 20+ years now that better players are arriving due to a salary increase. It is no mystery that the more money a league or clubs have, the better quality of players they can grab. I know it will eventually grow, it has potential as Canada is rich economically speaking. They just came to the party years late. If they would have started the same time as MLS or even ten years ago, that will be time advanced for them. But here is hoping that this area of the globe grows so we can have a better Champions League in the years to come.
For the life of me, I really don't get it. Where did I say it would compete with MLS? I said the league would be surprisingly good for it's 1st year, that's all. But you can't neglect giving 1st team minutes to youth players. Mexico does that and CPL plans to double down on that. Another reason why comparing CPL and MLS is something I just don't do. It's 2 very different leagues trying to achieve 2 very different objectives. Where Liga MX is the "La Liga" of CONCACAF and MLS is trying to be the EPL of the region (without pro/rel), CPL's goal is to be the "Ligue 1" of the region. Massive emphasis in youth development, while building up the league to the point of acquiring stronger internationals so those youth players can play with. Then sell to higher leagues. It's undeniable that it's working for France. Their pyramid is arguably the best in the world for developing youth players, their top league isn't the best but can compete but the benefits to the national team is undeniable. That's the goal of the CSA & CPL. We didn't host a world cup in 1994 like the US did, unfortunately. We're the 10th economy on the planet so our league will be fine. They have learned from past mistakes and from other leagues mistakes and good shots. The creation of CSB (Canadian SUM) is acknowledging that MLS had a brilliant idea there. Salary cap to control expenses and stabilizing the league is another lesson learned. The league has also learned from things that didnt worked so well too hence the modest starting point for year 1. I'm a fan of Canadian soccer but I'm realistic about where it is as of today, however very optimistic about tomorrow. Where looking at a return for Canada to it's rightful place in the region since the mid 90s, as a top regional power. The CSA is already in the process of getting additional Champions League spots to Canada based on past performances. The CSA will hand over any additional berth to the Canadian Premier League. The good thing about the league is that it will give playing opportunities to not only Canadians, but to Americans, Mexicans, Caribbeans and Central Americans. These new spots helps the region as a whole thanks to the arrival of a new Division 1 league. Of course, helping all those players won't be at the expense of Canadian players. CPL will require that half the roster be Canadians 6 of 11 on the pitch be Canadians at ALL TIME Minimum of allocated minutes to youth players.
The CPL should have an easier time starting up though. MLS went through the struggles because there was little interest in soccer in this country then. If they didn't have the novelty of hosting the WC a few years earlier MLS would have been gone after a few years. MLS's popularity in Canada with having a few teams there coupled with better internet and new TV deals have made catching European games easier will help the Canadian league gain traction quicker. The novelty of a new league will keep curious fans interested for at least the first 2 seasons (19, 20). The Hex will probably start be during the 21 season and hopefully Canada will be involved. (judging by the young talent they have, they should) Whether Canada makes the '22 WC or not the 22 season will probably still be a success. Also they could use the Nations League as a way to integrate CPL players into the national team pool.
Jonathan David is starting to prove that he's for real. He started his first game officially today and scored. Important goal in his first start for Gent, levelling the game with 11 to go #canMNT https://t.co/Ab9EQNFKo1— Canucks Abroad (@Canucks_Abroad) August 26, 2018

Red Star/Crvena zvezda came back from down 2-0 for a 2-2 draw to advance on away goals. It's their first time in the Champions League Group Stage since 1991-1992, when it was the European Cup. The season before that, they won the European Cup. The Group Stage draw will be tomorrow. One website said it will be on TNT in the USA, but TNT's website doesn't have it listed.
