According to you, he learned his football in just 23 games at the University of Connecticut...ok:rolleyes:.

See below... Safe to say that he learned it in Mississauga at Sigma FC. He himself says as much.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyle_Larin

In 2007, at the age of 11, Larin joined the private soccer academy Sigma FC of the Ontario Soccer League before graduating in 2013. During his time at Sigma FC, Larin travelled to Europe for training periods with Werder Bremen, Hertha Berlin and Wolfsburg in Germany, as well as Racing Genk and Club Brugge in Belgium twice. About the striker, Sigma FC Technical Director Bobby Smyrniotis said, "Cyle is a rare player to find in Canada...a complete and modern striker able to play with both feet, finish from all areas, dominate his region of the park and provide for his teammates."

In 2013, Larin committed to the University of Connecticut. During his first year with the Huskies, Larin scored 14 goals in 23 appearances, the 6th highest goal total in the entire NCAA for the season.

In 2014, during the college offseason Larin rejoined Sigma FC as they entered the newly formed League1 Ontario. During the season, Larin scored four goals for Sigma. During the season, Sigma FC reached the League 1 Ontario Cup final before ultimately losing 1–2 to Vaughan Azzurri.

Might be a good time to close this thread in light of last night. The US have lots to analyze/talk about instead of discussing/taking shots at other nations who already do know their issues and already discuss it endlessly among themselves.

    Just a suggestion

Who cares? You should focus on your team instead of other teams. That was an ugly loss to T&T so really, the cheap shot falls short now

you're angry. I get it. I would be as well in your position. CONCACAF can be a frustating region to play in. Wasn't it Bruce Arena who dared Europeans to come play in our region?

    The US got "CONCACAF'ED"

Canada didn't eliminate the U.S. Focus on your own team instead of trolling.

Last night's game had zero to do with the Canadian team, we were out of qualifying awhile back. You are suggesting it be closed because it is who you are.

Apologies, every village has it's idiot. You've met ours.

I'm sorry -- did Canada qualify for the World Cup last night, and I wasn't paying attention?

What is wrong with Canada, you ask?

    It is too damn cold.

That is the starting point when assessing the problem.

However, Iceland is cold as well... However, they do not follow any other sports but soccer in Iceland (and Handball a bit), while Canadians like predominately winter sports plus CFL.

Agreed. Since Panama didn't really score the goal that got them into the World Cup, they should have to play a 2-legged playoff with Chile who won both the South American championship and the North/South American championship before losing out on goal differential in a much too tough region despite scoring more points per match than Panama against vastly superior competition.

If Panama can even manage to draw over those 2 legs, give them the World Cup spot. Hell, spot them a phantom goal. But if they get predictably destroyed, maybe let a deserving talented team play.

More Canadians play soccer than hockey. They just have nowhere to go past a certain point.

    What's wrong with Canada?
    • No Division 1 or 2 domestic league. We're fixing that with CPL starting in 2019 with the blueprint to start a pro/rel D2 once the league gets to 16 teams. As for D3, League 1 Ontario is a success with 16-17 teams. Quebec League is growing. Just need to replicate that to the Maritimes and Western Canada.
    • The CSA itself up until Victor Montagliani arrival, which made it now a competent organization. Now their main challenge is to get the provincial associations to fall back in line behind the CSA's leadership, which absence over the years enabled the provinces to do whatever they wanted. The players development starts with the provinces and getting everyone on the same page

Since you're the resident Canadian here, doesn't travel time worry you in terms of cost for the CPL? Admittedly I'm not the most informed on the league, but it seems like a large country for a league without lots of money.

Theoretically, if there were leagues structured the way the CPL is going to be structured, wouldn't it be better for Canadian teams to play American teams that are much closer?

It doesn't worry him because he parrots the league's PR spin that it won't be a problem.

If you press further, he'll ignore the fact that the people involved have a vested interest in the matter and ask you what inside information you have.

CFL seems to be doing just fine. Also, who said CPL won't have lots of money? So far, ownership have the means of their ambitions.

The league itself says it won't be a problem. The CFL has been doing just fine for years. The 2 confirmed teams are own by CFL owners and they aren't poor.

You have to stop thinking that there's no money in Canada. After all, it's only the 10th richest economy in the world...

CanMNT has great talent up front. While most of you most Cyle Larin who's linked to transfer rumored sending him to Besiktas in Turkey with fellow Canadian and Captain of the team, midfield Drew Hutchison, another striker is making a name for himself in Liga MX.

    Lucas Cavallini
24 years old striker is currently on loan from Club Atlético Peñarol from the Uruguay Primera Division to Puebla in Liga MX. He already has 4 goals in 6 games and he's become their best striker. It was obvious at the Gold Cup that he's ahead of Cyle Larin

    Liam Millar

The futur looks bright with 18 years old who scored a hat trick at his debut with Liverpool U18 team. He's on the path to one days make the first team as he's Steven Gerrard's "pet project"
    https://www.thisisanfield.com/2017/10/liam-millar-steven-gerrards-hidden-attacking-gem-liverpool/

He left North Mississauga soccer club at age 13 to play in England. Last year, Liverpool paid NMSC $25k in compensation for his development
