I think the right of first refusal is pretty crazy, so I agree with you there. That said, there has to be some kind of compromise they could work out on the reserve teams. Having a nearby team where young prospects can play against adults, still train with the first team is good for development. I understand not wanting a reserve team in the league, but there may be something more there to flesh out.
CPL wants to launch a Tier 2 league by 2026 and implement pro/rel. I feel it would be energy better spent at helping CPL to make it happen. -TFC II is playing in D3 with USL-1. They are eligible to join Ontario League 1. -Montreal can put a reserve team in PLSQ which is Quebec D3 league. -BC Soccer is launching League 1 BC as of 2021 which would allow Vancouver to have a a reserve team there. USL Championship doesn't want reserve teams in third league I think... Helping building the D2 league in Canada helps all parties.
Pulisic is a journeyman? So being in Dortmund's academy, then playing for the first team and moving on to one of the few teams bigger than Dortmund makes you a journeyman? Is Ronaldo a journeyman too?
No Ronaldo does sit on the bench. Night and day. Pulisic does have potential but still has a long journey ahead.
German news outlet Bild is reporting that Lucas Hernandez picked up an ankle injury this week and will not play against Koln tomorrow. Davies will start in his place. He's definitely improved a lot but in regards to the game against the USMNT, I'm still thinking that Hutchinson should start ahead of him.
I can understand that, but I think MAK gives you a little more at this point. Tonight notwithstanding, he’s been better than any of the MLS midfielders the US has been throwing out there this year. At some point you have to move on and hand the keys to the next generation.
Even at 36, Hutchinson the better choice and plays at a higher level. Once 22 year old Stephen Eustaquio is back to 100%, Arfield and Eustaquio are locked in the starting XI. Kaye, Osorio and Piette will have to compete

He's eclipsing Alphonso Davies as the next star. Jonathan David will be "the" threat against the USA and he's only 19 with the nickname "iceman"We see you've missed an assist from yesterday's game. That's ok. We know how hard it is to keep up with The Iceman. He just keeps banging 'em in... #UEL (👇🏼updated career stats below👇🏼) #CANMNT pic.twitter.com/MRq3s3uz8f— KAA Gent (@KAAGent) September 23, 2019
Cyle Larin seems to have find his old form again. 4-2 final for Larin and Zulte Wargem. Larin scores the 3rd goal! https://t.co/YFEvEWxsLG— Canucks Abroad (@Canucks_Abroad) September 25, 2019
Good news! Looks like John Herdman will make a serious push to have Canada qualify for 2020 Olympics in Tokyo Herdman also said he's hoping to release some of his best players for U23 olympic qualifying, that Atiba Hutchinson is still in the call-up conversation, and that 17 pts are up for grabs vs 🇺🇸#CanMNT 🇨🇦— Alexandre Gangué-Ruzic (@AlexGangueRuzic) September 25, 2019 Guys on the senior team eligible to play for Canada U23 Jonathan David, Bayern Munich Alphonso Davies, Gent Liam Millar, Kilmarnock (loan from Liverpool) Derek Cornelius, Vancouver Whitecaps Ritchie Laryea, Toronto FC Zachary Brault-Guillard, Montreal Impact (loan from Lyon) Kamal Miller, Orlando City Liam Fraser, Toronto FC James Pantemis, Montreal Impact CPL best player expected to make the team Tristan Borges,Forge Terran Campbell, Pacific Noah Verhoeven, Pacific Easton Ongaro, FC Edmonton Emile Legault, Pacific Diego Gutierrez, Valour FC Diyaeddine Abzi, York 9 Ndzemdzela Langwa, HFX Wanderers Chrisnovic N'sa, HFX Wanderers Kadin Chung, Pacific Players not yet with the senior team and/or overseas Dayne St.Clair, Forward Madison Alessandro Busti Dario Zanatta, Hearts of Midlothian Theo Bair, Vancouver Whitecaps Jacob Shaffelburg,Toronto FC Scott Kennedy, SK A. God I hope the CPL is successful and grows because having a third large league in this confederation can be nothing but helpful.
That's the goal and it's very realistic for CPL to become the 3rd biggest league in CONCACAF (financially) and top 5 (quality) by 2026. As for expansion: lower mainland sounds like a lock. Langley, British Columbia seems to be ahead. BC Soccer is aiming to launch the D3 league by 2021. Vancouver Whitecaps are very interested in putting a reserve team in the league. Rumored teams are TSS Rovers --> moving to Richmond Vancouver 86ers (someone acquired the rights to the name) at Swanguard Stadium in Burnaby Tri-City (Coquitlam area) Kelowna or Okanagan Valley Whitecaps Reserve team Victoria Highlanders Kamloops came up Nanaimo CPL is very much set to acquire the league and brand it League One. Laval &/or Quebec City are right up there. (2020 or both by 2021) Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is a lock for 2021 according to the owner Joe Belan. Billionaire Apostopoulos, the guy who wanted to bring MLS to Detroit is the money behind a Durham team (Pickering) in the Greater Toronto Area. There's being push being done in Moncton, New Brunswick. St.John's Newfoundland a deep pocket prospective owner who was studying the market. There's many ownership interested in Mississauga in the GTA, the city is putting out a plan to build a soccer stadium. Kitchener-Waterloo region was brought up, stadium seems to be the obstacle Ottawa...where do we start. CPL is not interested in working with OSEG, current owners of USL Ottawa Fury. They have a plan for the city without them and they are most likely waiting on CONCACAF to pull the trigger on them Niagara Region group has contacted the league Fun Story, a group from Buffalo, NY wanted to join the league but they were turned down by the league. They've learned from CFL No news from London and Sherbrooke are interested but said it's too expensive to join. They are waiting on Division II to launch.
Phonzie at the end, with a good game for @FCBayernUS, in a yeasty game, a 3:2 win vs @SCPaderborn07. @AlphonsoDavies started on bench and came in, as sub in at Halftime. https://t.co/V6qA0h99a2— Canucks Abroad (@Canucks_Abroad) September 28, 2019
