I am sad that I'll go out tonight, so I'll miss the France's match, probably the one I was more interested to in this Euro 2017. I hope for a good display by France, my favourite team for the title, despite Majri's injury. Anyway, I see them easily qualifying from this group.
Thanks for your support but it will not be easy, we are one level above the rest of the group is true but all three teams are not easy to play against, specially Iceland, because they know how to close themselves well. Majri missing is a big blow, as even PSG coach Pat Lair said in a recent interview, our team main weakness is goal scored and losing our most creative payer, the one only able abe to constanstly make a quality cross will be felt. I just hope whoever took her place will play well. My prediction: Austria - Switzerland: 0-2 France - Iceland: I prefer not predict, I've learnt from yesterday.....Allez les Bleues! There could be blood in the duel Sara Bjork vs Amandine Henry.
France may laugh at the thought of playing against Iceland, but they will not be laughing in 60 years from now when they have to play against the frigid ladies from the North Pole. Iceland will also be a force in the future. But North Pole in their fur coat and skorts will be way too tough to handle on their home igloo.
go France, looking forward to some beautiful play today by the French that said the loss of Majri is huge
Who's the second favourite in this group tho? Behind France I think it's pretty close imo, maybe Austria a close 2nd behind France
Lol don't get me started...not you... Anyway, it seems like I got my prediction wrong....very positively surprised by Austria and negatively by Switzerland in this first half.
I've watched some bits and morsels of Austria-Switzerland's 1st half, but it doesn't seem like the most exciting game on earth, despite the surprise score with Austria ahead. Swiss seem lethargic. I couldn't help wondering if Nadine Prohaska is in any way related to brilliant '70s/'80s Austrian man MF Herbert Prohaska (who played in Italy for 3 or 4 seasons), since it didn't sound like a very common surname, but I didn't find any indication that she's tied to him.
Unfortunately, the first match isn't being aired live (on TV), so, didn't go home to watch. Lemme guess: Bauchmann missed at least 10 sitters in the 1st half alone? Switzerland has always massively underperformed, so I don't expect much for them. Good for Austria though. Maybe, they can catch up with their German sisters soon.
Burger doing her team a servere disservice in the waning minutes of the match. Two unnecessary giveways, one leading to a Swiss free kick. SMH Ja wohl, Oesterreich!
I didn't manage to see the whole match, but it doesn't seem to me that Switzerland did much to win or even draw this match. Austria kept it simple, but looked solid.
After watching 5 matches, I find Austria the best organized team so far. Maybe not most talented, but cohesive, feisty and responsible unit.
Well in football usually ONE team beat Eleven individuals so congratulations Austria you really deserved this victory, Switzerland has more pure talent but Austria tactical organisation, tenacity, determination made the difference. Captain Nina Burger the player of the game, she scored one, provoked one red card and was a constant threat throughout the entire game. But now it's time for les Bleues so everybody please...
I both side's kits. Iceland looks unsually pacey today. My girls trying to push forward to start the match. Nice What a sweet, clean tackle to prevent ELS from scoring. All ball right there.
Felix Fernandez, one of Univison's top analysts is calling this match and having a hard time with the Icelandic names. LOL. His broadcast partner seems to be fairing better with pronounciation. Anyway, very agressive play from both teams. I don't see how Iceland scores. I think they can pull off a draw. Edit: Who knew that Iceland was so rough. Damn. We should have had about 4 yellows by now. The Univison commentators are screaming for a penalty for Iceland. Ooh and it was close. This match is straight HAM and I'm going to watch the entire thing.
Iceland doesn't really have much except for physical play. France can't get a final ball in and when they do, it's a poor touch by their forwards.
True our forwards are letting us down more than usual today....Le Sommer and Thomis are having a nightmare, but I don't like our performance , too nervous, too much protestig, coach needs to bring serenity at half time and change one between Le Sommer and Thomis ...why not both?
