It was mostly a joke. I listed every position on the field.

Leadership can help minimize those weak links. Absent good leadership, performance trends to the weaker link.

Even the great stars need good supporting characters around them. George Best couldn't make Northern Ireland competitive on his own, and when they finally had a decent squad he was too old and ruined by alcohol to make a contribution. Maradonna was the difference-maker in 1986, but he had Daniel Passarella (Fiorientina), Jorge Valdano (Real Madrid), Jorge Burrachaga (Nantes) and Oscar Ruggieri around him.

If McKennie lives up to his success so far, that's fine, but him and Pulisic will still need four or five others (e.g. Miazga, Ethan Horvath, Bill Hamid, Brooks) to be playing top10 in the Top 5 ball and the rest to be top-drawer at MLS level.

Hope he manages to take his first team spot back and not lose his place by way of injury.

He's going to be fine. No worries about that with Schalke as they seem to be big on him in the present, near and foreseeable futures.

Man, can't type while taking a decongestant medication. I meant to say "I don't think he is going to start, he will probably be subbed in and hopefully next week he may get a start"

I expected that, he is not an established player. They won without him so they weren't going to change anything.

Tedesco continues with his "playing folks out of position" by again pairing Max Myer (a #10) next to Leon in the center of the park to play as a deep lying playmaker.

This also doesn't look like a game for Wes. Mainz is sitting back and letting Schalke dictate. The strengths McKennie has shown so far aren't really geared toward bunker-breaking. I think a Schalke lead in the second half let's us see our man.

For the last couple of seasons I eventually thought this would be the case. Meyers has not progressed has a 10 but has good control

female ref running the game today. I've seen AR's but not the main ref yet. Kudos, girlpower!

Ya she made her debut at the start of this season and from what I have seen really holds her own.

Is she actually fast enough to keep up with the play? I’d be surprised.

No McKinnie today as they have now used all 3 subs in the 89th minute. Convincing win for Schalke though puts them in the thick of it at the top of the table.

the ref was top notch. found her super disciplined when players went down easy looking for a foul. She did the 'get up' hand gesture a lot! when way too many other refs are calling those 'fouls'.

I didn't see her lack of speed nor her ponytail cause her issues in keeping up with the more superior male gender. (a joke to poke fun at Jazzy).
