I think he did exactly what was asked of him. To the extent it is likely to result in further minutes, he impressed. IMO, Shalke as a whole put in an impressive performance off a superior game plan to make beating Leipzig seem easy.
Always looking to improve...@WMckennie & Co. were back on the training ground today to begin preparations for #H96S04 💪 #S04US pic.twitter.com/XQBvjN3mgd— Schalke 04 USA🇺🇸 (@s04_us) August 22, 2017
Weston's best sequence of his 12+ minutes: Let this be a lesson for all #Bundesliga defences: No one stops @WMckennie in full flow 👊 #S04US pic.twitter.com/AFb27qME7G— Schalke 04 USA🇺🇸 (@s04_us) August 21, 2017

I don't know why they cut it short one second to not show that he in fact completed the pass. We often see these highlight GIFs where they cut it short because they lose the ball. He did not lose the ball, the ball skimmed the head of the defender and it went to the forward completing the play. The difference between good and great is completing passes not the skill in the first place. To utilize a skill and not complete the play is useless. You use skill for a result not for the sake of itself. Great play by McKennie.
Yes, he did. Did the precise job he was asked to do. Made a couple of reflections that caused turnovers through pressing, created outlets for defenders relieving pressure by winning headers, rode three tackles and almost launched a counter with a great ball....ge wasn't leo messi but he did his job
It was weird seeing running around playing defense in a forward position. He had no idea who to pass to being that he was playing infront of everyone instead of behind 4-5 players. With that said he did his job. Looking forward to seeing him play from a more DM position against an opponent playing more offensively and balanced.
Meh...think I said that in my post. What I said, was that he did not do the things on the field that justify the level of...exuberance that is pouring out. In sum it's an overreaction. I will restate this though because BS loves to cherry pick a word or sentence and ignore the context...I am high on Mckennie...I think his performance was solid...I think he has shown he has a very high ceiling...I think he did what he was supposed to in this game...I don't think he was in a position to do the spectacular...I think people are overeacting to this performance.
I completely understand where you are coming from, it was 14 minutes (with stoppage time), he was out of position, basically running around applying pressure and although he looked like he belonged, he did not have any particular moment of earth shattering skill. Then I thought about how Weston is an 18 year old central midfielder, playing for a massive club in the Bundesliga, looking like he 100% belonged and I got super exuberant. Both perspectives seem totally legit.
Does not make the 11 today: Unsere Start-1⃣1⃣ für das Spiel bei @Hannover96! Auf geht's, #Schalke! #H96S04 pic.twitter.com/WdU7C9BJHz— FC Schalke 04 (@s04) August 27, 2017 Edit: McKennie on the bench according to ESPN
Red Card suspended. He should return the next match. Tedesco has used Stambouli primarily in the back 3 so he likely cover for the back and as a dedicated #6.
I flipped the game on, and the announcers are highly critical of Schalke's offensive play. 0-0 in the 40th.
Ref seems to be card happy, not sure if the coach will want to chance it with Wes but he may be forced to use him if more players get carded.
Schalke give up an incredibly dumb goal due to high pressing in the Schalke 1/3rd by Hannover and now trail 1 - 0 '66
3 subs and no Weston. From what I've seen (~10 minutes), Schalke doesn't really have that much quality. They look like a midtable team to me.
