I didn't know that. Thanks! But this is what I most like about him as a prospect. His leadership ability seems apparent to all his managers.
Nice header @WMckennie! 🙌🙌 #U19 #schmiede #s04 pic.twitter.com/ifmJNH4FSF— Knappenschmiede (@knappenschmiede) October 24, 2016

US Soccer's website has him as "McKinnie." They also haven't updated to his new club, nor for a handful of other players (Lennon not at Liverpool, Sabbi not at Las Palmas, etc. etc.). http://www.ussoccer.com/us-under20-mens-national-team/latest-roster#tab-1
Don't know if there's a player I've seen less of that I'm more excited about. Really only seen this kid play one full game but he was dominant. Technical and athletic. Great passing range and vision. Work rate and supreme toughness. Was unbeatable in the air. Was unbeatable in any physical challenge really. Did everything in full control, again in one word just dominant. We often talk about the leadership and character and how he seems to get selected captain where ever he goes but another intangible to chew one, for a guy I really don't think of as an attacking player first, he's always on the score sheet.
Schalke is pretty much guaranteed to finish top of their Europa League group with two games to play. Is it even possible for McKennie or Wright to play in the last few games? Or do they have to be pre-registered for European competition?
They do have to be on this list to play in the group stage. Which they are not. They can be added before the KO rounds. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2017/clubs/club=57388/squad/index.html
I have never watched him but from your description sounds less like Jermaine Jones and more like Arturo Vidal skill set. Wouldn't that be amazing.
Ahem..............Frisco. I don't know if folks from around the country understand who big of a city Frisco is. It's larger than Syracuse, for instance. 3rd fastest growing city in the US when comparing the 2010 and 2015 censuses. Nearby McKinney, Texas is 4th. In the central midfield rotation for the first team with Acosta, Grueso, and Ulloa. Not starting at first as Acosta and Grueso are two 21-year old senior internationals. Its not like the path to the first team was easy with FCD. FCD has plenty of talent on the way. They went undefeated in both stages of the last U18 DA playoffs without McKennie.
Funny because Vidal has probably been my single favorite player the last few years. Just to provide a little more context this was a U18 DA game but yea, I'm excited to watch this kid grow. Hoping we can get some full match footage of him w/ Schalke at some point this season.
Start11 der #U19 gegen #RWO. Um 13 Uhr rollt der Ball! #schmiede #s04 pic.twitter.com/bnixWwdjoB— Knappenschmiede (@knappenschmiede) December 4, 2016 Not in the squad this week. Injury? Sickness? He's been starting almost every game.
Now apparently down to one cane. #US-Boys Nick #Taitague, Weston #McKennie & Haji #Wright after today's last of the year #U19 match in #Duisburg. 2-0 away match victory #S04 pic.twitter.com/eaYebMCJXX— Volker Barth (@barthvolker) December 10, 2016
