Back to the league with a tough one against Cardiff tomorrow night. Our replay against Boro next week ensures that we will have mid-week & Saturday football for the next fortnight. The Bluebirds are one of four clubs just three points behind us in the table, so we need to make sure we get a result against them and hold the chasing pack at arm's length. We will be without our captain Curtis Davies who is serving a one-match ban after earning two yellows against Boro Saturday. Fortunately, Cardiff also have two players who will miss out tomorrow night, and one happens to be their dangerous striker Michael Chopra.
West Bromwich Albion 1 Cardiff City 0 Good win for us tonight at home. After an end-to-end first half where both sides had decent chances on net, we finally broke through in the second and hung on. Nathan Ellington came off the bench to give us the winner and a needed three points. We certainly could have had more than the one goal as well. Cardiff simply weren't able to make the break-through once the defence tightened up near the end. Back up to second in the table and one point behind idle Derby at the top. The Rams and Blues both still have two games in hand, but IMO we have a slightly more favourable fixture list for our final dozen league matches.
