He is at a the clinic of doctor Klaus Eder, one of the doctors
of the German NT, doing a rehab there. In his blog he wrote
yesterday, that his rehab is working fine and he expects to
    return to Bremen on Friday.

So I assume he won't make it for the Schalke clash?

    No way.

I think he will make his comeback at the Cottbus match (matchday 4)
or some days later at the start of CL.

Tim Wiese and Aaron Hunt are out for the CL match in Athens
    because of injury.

Some well known names on the list, one little correction:
Fritz extended his contract until 2012 in the last weeks.

For Werder some of the midfielders could be interesting,
but the problem at free transfers is, that they want a high salary.
So i am not sure, if Werder will sign any of these players.

Fritz coming in at the start second half back from injury and injures
    again in minute 67. Unbeliveable.

All the best for him, but Werder must react.

Fritz is very often injured and when on pitch you see,
that he has no stamina. He sprints 20 meters and then breath for air.

There is no real back-up for him after Owomoyela
got sold to Dortmund (right decision, he´s also injury prone).
If KATS don´t want to get active on the transfer market
they should give a talent from the reserve playing time
(Diekmeyer). He has a similar playing style and Fritz can rest.

Im not too worried about it. Meilitz has played in high pressure matches before, i am sure he will cope with the Franks.

Most propably we will miss Naldo at the start of the season. He had knee problems during the whole season preparation and he didn't recover significally. :( All the best Naldo, take you time to become the old. :)

That being the case, will Astroboy or Rosie start? We still need 2 strikers if we want to rub out that away goal. I can't see a 4-5-1 working, Bremen doesn't use that system. Sheesh, this is really getting buggered up!

A 4-5-1 isn't all that different from the 4-2-3-1 we played with most of last season. Whether or not TS will ever try Marin-Hunt-Wesley on top of Frings and Bargfrede remains to be seen, though; and it's probably unlikely since it effectively makes the Arnautovic signing pointless.

Hunt is most propably out for the Genua returning leg. The idiot (sry to give him the name, but he is currently) played already against with fibre against Hoffenheim and told coach Schaaf nothing. Now he lays in bed.

Aaron, motivation is a good thing, but playing ill is just stupid.

Pizarro got a rupture of a muscle fibe in the Collogne match and won't join the Peru NT. Behind his appearance in the Bayern match is a question mark.

Great game today by the NT - (6- 1 rout of Azerbaijan) ... but any celebrations will be slightly dampened by injury to first choice center back from Werder Bremen, Per Mertesacker ...

"Mertesacker was forced off after taking an elbow to the face from Dzhavadov, who managed to escape a booking"

Hopefully its not serious and he will be back in action very soon ...

Looked like a cut, should not be serious. Hope so.

Supposedly, Merte's contact lens flew out. I hate when that happens. (Of course, my contact lenses are most likely not to be in in the first place.)

In the postgame press conference, Jogi evidently said that they don't know if he'll be ready for the game this weekend. NOOOO!!!

Brutal, and frustrating! So we're going to have an untested CB pairing for the next couple weeks at least? Prödl/Silvestre or Prödl/Pasanen?

I think Prödl/Pasanen, because Silvestre is only a week in Bremen and can't know the system, movement of teammates, ... .

Correct ... I too think Prödl and Pasanen will be the right combination at this point ... looks like Merte's injury will keep him out for atleast 4 - 6 weeks which is a huge blow for Bremen :( ... the defensive midfielders will have to take on a bit more of responsibility now.

It's definitely going to be hard to watch on Saturday. Hopefully Frings plays low in more of a sweeper role than anything else. Bargfrede can roam around and be fairly mobile in midfield that way... Let Arnautovic play in front of Marin-Hunt-Wesley and hope that when the four of them get the ball that they are able to do something with it.
