Nico Müller and Ekdal also left the match injured for HSV. Meanwhile Mainz were unable to hold onto their lead and ended up losing to Köln. So the EffZeh leap out of reach again. Right now our closest targets are Augsburg/Stuttgart at 33 points, and HSV/Hoffenheim at 34 points. With all their respective current forms in consideration, IMO Stuttgart and HSV are the most realistic clubs we can move ahead of.

Our team showed a good morale today, but Bayern was the deserved winner.
What annoyed me is the bad luck in some situations: Players sliding and falling so that the other team scores and 50-50 calls. This is like a red line through the whole season. Nevertheless our players should not worry, try to retain stamina as quick as possible for the important HSV match.

@Bundesliga scheduler: Which *** scheduled it on Friday with us playing cup today, while the other 8 matches are at the weekend. :speechless:

Exactly, the placement of these two scheduled dates are ridiculous. I'm also unable to watch week day football matches anymore because of my new job. But whatever, let's go out there and smash them anyways.

    Horrible first half. :(

C'mon Werder, get the sh*t together and stand up.

Shithouse antics that would shame a Mourinho team from Hamburg there. The time-wasting was horrible to watch. They got away with it as well. I hope you stay up.

    Cheers mate.

Dissapointing week. :( And about the schedule: We play on Friday after a Tuesday cup match and the next match is in 10 days on a Monday ... Was the scheduler on drugs? :speechless:

Here's a graphic showing the possible placements for each club. However due to the loss vs HSV, the projection window for Werder is now smaller. From the remaining 3 games, we'll need to win at least 2 of them and draw in the other to stand a chance. Tbh, our most realistic scenario right now is finishing 16th for the pro/rel playoff.

For what it's worth, I've been following 1. FCN who will almost certainly be the play-off 2. liga candidate, seem to have hit a wall, after not losing a game for ... months on end (their run was incredible until about a fortnight ago) and hurtling head first toward the title. They're susceptible to stage fright ;)

Hoffenheim to europa? That Nagelsmann character must be some kind of genius, he's flipped the form and mood of that club on its head in no time at all o_O

Admittedly, FCN were the 2.BL that I've been rooting for this season. Mainly because of the former Werder lad Füllkrug, and to see the significant progress in his development. And also naturally would rather see them make the immediate leap instead of Red Bull. They've certainly beginning to show signs of burning out though in the last few weeks and are losing momentum fast. Which at this point is actually good news for Werder since we're on track to face off in the playoffs.

Yep, Nagelsmann has been a revelation since taking over Hoffenheim. Only 28 years old but already looks more poised and accomplished than many veteran coaches who've been in the industry for 30 years. Although it was only a matter of time before Hoffenheim snapped out of their horrible slump. They have too much resources and quality players to continue sucking that much.

Well speak his name and he will score lol. Füllkrug levels it for FCN 2-2 on a penalty. He also had a goal ruled off earlier which debatably could have been counted as well.

    Thanks for the explaination.

Though I don't see Obama as a legit reason for my club suffering a bad schedule.
For example Wolfsburg had a home game today, a city much closer to Hannover than Hamburg.
So I stay at my point that the main reason for the bad schedule is that the DFL and DFB do not want us in the Bundesliga. :(

Next weekend's home match vs Stuttgart is do or die and will decide our fate. Anything less than a win will be unacceptable towards survival. They remain 2 points within reach after also losing yesterday.

Insane match at the Weserstadion today. 6-2 victory against Stuttgart, and climbing ahead of them and Frankfurt. Proud of the boys for this massive display. Two more games to go, let's finish this strong.

Totally forgot about this, but what a result for Bremen! The second Stuttgart goal was I suppose like the rest of the world just got caught up in the spurs game and following the leicester celebrations.

"Watch Niedermeier again, if he backs up anymore he's going to end up in Hamburg"

Last game of the year against Frankfurt too, .... a relegation play-off play-off?! get the job done in cologne next week and breathe a little easier hey :D

Lester-who? This is the only game that matters around here. ;)

Yup, fate is in our hands now. These 3 points are a huge boost but we're not quite out of the woods yet. And of course, we could also use some favorable results in the other fixtures. Frankfurt has BVB up next. While Stuttgart has two kinda tough games too depending if the opposition shows up. This would be a nice time for Mainz to stop slumping, and Wolfsburg to finally make good use of themselves.

Shame that Yatabare got injured but Öztunali starting is an absolute must for the final 2 matches. This is the best I've seen from him, and he really brings that extra element.

Around 6,500 Werder fans are expected to travel with the team for the away match at Köln this Saturday.

Held to a scoreless draw at the end. Damn, a victory was certainly within reach today. That goal ruled off in the 26 min hurt. Our defense looked more cohesive though, which is a positive. We also did get one of the favorable results as Mainz beat Stuttgart 3-1. Too bad Dortmund chose a bad time to have a awful game, and couldn't get the job done against Frankfurt. Hooooo boy, next week at home is gonna be a nail biter. Right up there as one of the most important games in club history.
