I’ve wanted him gone for some time. We all know how needed this is. Now that we know he’s leaving o hope we can all celebrate him like hell. Let’s win the Europa and send him off right.
A bit shocking that it has finally happened. Even though we all knew it was necessary, it never felt like it would happen. Now the speculation of who's next begins. In the meantime, we can all celebrate his success. I am very glad he will be able to get a positive sending off. This could have turned very ugly, and instead he will get the ending he deserves.
It was time, but god damn if I'm not sad. Im in my 20s and Arsene is all I've ever known as an Arsenal fan. In many ways he was the club for two decades. Let's win the Europa.
Feels weird that it's finally happening. All the respect in the world him. Hopefully the board make the right pick to replace him and don't go with Brendan Rogers.
I'll echo what some folks are saying here: I've wanted him to step down for a few seasons now, but I'm nevertheless a bit choked up. I started following the club the year before he became manager, so he's really all I've ever known. It was time, but I hope there's a statue up soon. He deserves it.
The more I think about it, the more I love the timing of this announcement -- it leaves a few games, but not too many, for fans to show appreciation and love for Wenger and to end the season on a positive, if uncertain, note (even more positive if we can win the Europa League, and his resignation perhaps gives the players some extra motivation). He even gets another game at Old Trafford, where I imagine he'll get some final respects. I bet loads of ex-players come out for the final home game as well.
At least now people can really appreciate how much he's done for this club. I started watching epl in the mid-90s and just considered the fate of past ambitious clubs like Leeds, Portsmouth & Blackburn. Where might Arsenal be now if Wenger hadn't stayed committed to the club & kept that streak of CL qualifications? He's built it into a global brand where I see kids from Vietnam to the US sporting the kit, and all while trying to compete against the crooked money that's come into the game. Many of the clubs currently winning the top titles have big oil, mafia or state governments backing them, or simply have other advantages that will make it very difficult for anyone to continuously challenge. I felt he deserved to finish out his contract, but now I just hope the club stays true to the ideals of wengerball & doesn't pick some bunker specialist to win titles.
Well said but if we win titles via bunker specialist or by hook or crook, I don’t think it matters. If Arsenal turns into a bunkering team that pulls off a title win, I’m all for it. Next season will be the “be careful what you wish for” season

I think we will send him off proper. He was an admirable foe and Pep v Jose was second rate to SAF v Arsene. Those clashes were great because the players also hated each other Keane v Viera was a subtext of that battle too. He brought you guys the invincibles and no one will ever take that away from you. At your height you guys played some beautiful football.
When I woke up this morning and saw the Arsenal Fan TV YT post of the club announcing that Wenger would leave at the end of the season I thought, "it's a joke, right?" Clicked on it and yep, he's out. You knew someday it would happen but still, it's a bittersweet feeling that the longest serving manager in Arsenal's history would leave. I've always been highly critical of what he's done on and off the pitch these last few years but never been disrespectful and stooped to name-calling. He's done a lot for the club and we should respect that; however, he should have called time after winning the FA Cup v. Hull so that he could leave on a high and on his terms. I think his legacy would've had a rosier look had he not held on after that. Agreed; we should all get behind Wenger and the club to finish this season out on a high and, perhaps, his first and only European trophy whilst at the club.
It's bittersweet, although I'd say more sweet than bitter. He brought the club to dizzying heights, but he wasn't able to sustain that success and almost became too big for the club. He's still an Arsenal legend. I just wish he would have left a few years earlier, so I would be more in the mood to give him a great tribute he has earned. He still is Arsenal through and through.
