With two goals in 70 premier league appearances, Altidore had a goal per 35 games ratio in the EPL. BSW has 6 in 31 Bundesliga games... would have to go another 180 games without a goal in order to catch up with Jozy's ratio... it's doable, but pretty hard...

Tough spot for Wood considering he had a knee problem which, I'm speculating, is having some bearing on his game, at just the wrong time. He is better than what we are seeing at the moment. Hope the new manager can find the midfield connection they need to create more possibilities in the attacking end. They were having a hard time just getting the ball past the 3 Hannover forwards yday.

Jozy wasn't a bad EPL forward; he was only misunderstood.

Nothing he has ever done has given any indication he is strong enough for the mental grind that would have existed in your alt reality. Thus the likely result would have been similar even if it would have taken longer for him to face adversity.

Maybe, but who would do well at Sunderland? Take a look at where the bloated squad they had in 2013-14 are now. Only five of their over 30 outfield players (yes, you did read that right) are still playing D1 football in Europe.

And that's just their on-the-field performances. Their off-the-pitch activities were notorious. Adam Johnson was only the worst of them, and he did do one good thing for that club: he took the focus off the shit the rest of the squad was getting up to instead of knuckling down for the relegation fight.

Jozy's probably a 'tweener: too good for leagues like MLS or the Eredivisie, but not good enough for the EPL, while being too expensive for the non-Champions League BL1, Ligue 1, or La Liga sides where he would have been forced to prove himself strong enough for that mental grind.

TFW your one productive attacking player turns out to be a child molester and the decent bloke can't score a goal to save his life

Erm, maybe his direct replacement James Defoe? Who hit over 30 goals in the following two seasons despite playing for that crappy club. Thing is it's not just the 2 seasons spent at Sunderland, it's also the season at Hull too - it basically comes out to 2 goals in 3 seasons which is just not good enough for a striker. Again I like Jozy, loved watching him at AZ but let's face it, he lost confidence and bombed big time in England.

MLS is full of players better than him. The only thing that is too good for MLS is his salary. And I do like Jozy.

    Oh you bragger, you :p

what was his house like? A living museum I'd imagine?

From the running commentary, it seems Wood did everything but score.Which seems that he's building as of late.

He probably still wouldn't score for them.

    With a -21 GD, I don't doubt you're right...

On the other hand, I bet Sunderland wishes they had Jozy...

Wood is subbed on in the second half, and Hamburg have cut the lead in half with a goal from Andre Hahn (Wood wasn't involved).

Bobby had a nice move in the box that was almost a goal. He controlled a ball with his back to the goal, spun around 180 degrees and shot but the keeper made a reflex save

Bobby had a great chance to become an HSV hero in that in the box scrum. Didn't see a good replay yet.
