While I agree with the fit, the EPL has too much money, and BW is not exactly lethal. After a couple of 1-on-1s vs. keepers where he fails to score, they'd be buying someone more expensive.

Yep. And then HSV will replace him with Agudelo . . . :p

Exactly. His workrate, balls-to-the-walls attidue, and technical qualitites outside the box will make him a fan favourite at the start. But if his finishing doesn't improve - rapidly - they'll turn on him in a while. When fans do, it gets ugly

Very odd to see NT manager look to interject himself into a player/club situation like this. Tis what an agent is for.

Sure, I get crucified on these boards for making a bit of a leap of an assumption on a rating and news stories, but now that the coach is involved...silence.

Man, I love being crazy...and right.

You should have stopped at "I love being crazy." How does Arena support your paranoid delusions about kicker payoffs from Hamburg?

You seriously think a score from one game will affect teams being interested in him? He listed his only options now as NASL and MLS after Bobby has drawn interest of other German sides and a few English sides. Chalk this up to not being a fool. One game will never make or break a player.

I don't think that's why he's going. There's no quote of anyone it was a suggestion by the person writing it. It would be all types of stupid if Bruce was trying to do that.

I am 99.9% sure the post in question was posted with a heavy dose of irony.

I think whether or not Hamburg influenced the kicker rating (and I don't put it past them) the result has been a net positive for HSV.

so, you're saying Bruce is carrying a suitcase of Bennies to out-bribe the BM guy to get a better rating for Wood so that he can get a big transfer and get the US to the world cup and save Arena's job and reputation?

That's crazy. Why wouldn't he just hire Paul Manafort or Carter Page to do that. They need the money.

No worries. Glad your making light of the situation. I don't understand how people get so caught up in a rating of a game.

Of course not for the article. He's going because there are shenanigans afoot. Seems like wood may have flat out said, I'm leaving after the season.

Maybe but I doubt it. The article where he said he thanked JK. He said he still talks with JK and that JK told him to stay. Now got to figure that's all contingent on them staying up but I think he listens to him. They want him to resign so that they can increase the release clause both if they stay up and even more if they drop cause 5 mil for a player like bobby is nothing. He wants to get paid they don't see eye to eye. He's probably using other teams evaluation to put pressure on them. Time will tell but bobby doesn't strike me as the type to burn any bridges my making a sweeping declaration.

Not the rating. Not the story. You have to follow the story line and sentiment. I think there is a real battle going on right now for Wood.

I am reading it like this:

Wood 18 months ago was not in BL, was in Berlin. He was probably just 12 months away from quitting.

Now, he's on the ticket for maybe a $2mm pay raise and EPL or CL exposure.

He's looking down the barrel of BL demotion.

However, you also have JK coming out publicly and basically telling him: I got you into Hamburg, I put you in this position, you need to come good and give HSV at least another year.

So Wood is conflicted. Still, HSV stands to make good on a $12mm buyout, plus some drag-alongs.

Now then, you have many news stories pulling you in two directions, plus a blatant nonsense kicker score/article that seems 'forced.'

My case is not written in Stone however. It is liable to go up in flames.

This thread sure has gotten weird the last few pages, I will be gald when we get a game to talk about. The game coming up is pretty important to HSV to avoid the play off.
    Basically a 6 pointer.

If Bobby were going to re-sign and both club and player wanted that, I see zero reason Arena would be flying over.

Maybe Bobby wants to leave and HSV is threatening playing time which would effect the NT heading into June. And that would be a reason for Arena to jump on a jet.

I can't think of any other reason for Arena to get involved.
