Ever. I think they were a little harsh. He didn't drop his pants and crap on the penalty spot. He didn't score an autogolazo. He didn't backpass from the center line to his GK. He didn't miss two penalties. Not sure why he deserved a 6.

 

Maybe he told the kicker reporter to "lich mich im Arsch."

Even that time Dempsey took a $hit in the penalty box he still got a decent rating.

That's normally reserved for Own goal + Red card for kicking the ref or something. WTF.

 

Weird if he got a 6 from Kicker. That's harder to do than getting a 1.

surely though it wasn't earned? i mean wouldn't a 6 be the result of scoring a hat trick of own goals or being scored on like 9 goals.

 

I would guess the bad rating has to do with the German aversion to Bobby getting mad and punching the turf. They seem particularly sensitive to it compared to other leagues.

 

Feels more like a punishment than a fair rating based on what you guys are seeing. He wasn't great but I didn't think he was THAT bad.

This was very much like the Doyle hatchet job on Jones.

Wood is getting a lot of press. Hamburg need the fire to die down as htey are in relegation struggle. They need Bobby to either create or sustain them for goals.

Kicker only gives a 1 or a 6 in the rarest of instances.

Which means head of football operations called kicker and asked for a solid.

kinda exciting. last big transfer of this kind might have been Dempsey's leaving Fulham for Spurs. Liverpool had lowballed the club. I believe he had some interest from abroad but ultimately signed with Spurs at the last minute.

 

It does kind of mirror Dempsey's first real season as a starter under Sanchez? Route A football. Terrible, terrible football.

I've seen players score hat tricks and not receive a 1 from kicker. I've seen red cards, own goals, horrible play and not receive a 6.

Wood had an off day. Not a 6.

 

How much Kicker has been paid? $20? $50? Can we collect some money, bribe Kicker, and guarantee "1" to poor Wood in the next game? How much for "0"?

 

Nothing more valuable to a journo than a favor owed by one of the big clubs.

Still, I find it strange. Kicker had no business giving him a 6. None. I cant think of any other reason.
