9 games to go in the PL, 5 home and 4 away, with 5 of the final 7 at home. Remaining home fixtures: Palace, Brighton, Huddersfield, West Ham and Everton Remaining away fixtures: Southampton, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bournemouth Notable remaining fixtures between the big 6: Arsenal vs Manchester United Manchester United vs Manchester City Manchester United vs Chelsea Liverpool vs Chelsea Woolwich also have to go to Leicester, Watford and Wolves, which will not be easy fixtures.
There are certainly 7 fixtures there we should be aiming to win, though we know it's a cup final for West Ham and the Cherries can pull surprises. Even at home we have scraped by on many occasions this year, Burnley was a time it didn't come off and shouldn't have been a huge surprise.
Our remaining fixtures (all times ET): March 31 Liverpool A 11:30 am April 3 Crystal Palace H (TBC) April 9 Manchester City H (CL) 3 pm April 13 Huddersfield H 7:30 am April 17 Manchester City A (CL) 3 pm April 20 Manchester City A 7:30 am April 23 or 24 Brighton H (TBC) April 27 West Ham United H 7:30 am May 4 Bournemouth A 10 am May 12 Everton H 10 am
On the other hand, they have to play us 3 times, so they won't be taking it easy. So three tough matches for both sides. (They are better equipped to deal with that, of course).
Remaining fixtures in the race for top 4: All 4 clubs are still in Europe and City are also into the FA Cup semi-finals. Tottenham (64 pts, 6 GR): Huddersfield (H), Manchester City (A), Brighton (H), West Ham (H), Bournemouth (A), Everton (H) Arsenal (63 pts, 7 GR): Everton (A), Watford (A), Palace (H), Wolves (A), Leicester (A), Brighton (H), Burnley (A) Chelsea (63 pts, 6 GR): West Ham (H), Liverpool (A), Burnley (H), Manchester United (A), Watford (H), Leicester (A) Manchester United: (61 pts, 6 GR): West Ham (H), Everton (A), Manchester City (H), Chelsea (H), Huddersfield (A), Cardiff (H)
I'll take our set of fixtures out of those. L'Arse on the road for 5/7. Chelsea/MU to play each other plus one of the top two each. Need to execute on our home games and we'll be OK.
Arsenal has the best run in of all 4, even with 5 of 7 on the road. They have no top teams and a game in hand. I hate to say it, but Arsenal finishing ahead of us seems likely.
Yeah, but Palace and Leicester could be tricky for them, as could Watford. I'm also an optimist, so I think Spurs will be okay. Edit - Good job Everton...and holy crap. Shots: Everton - 23 Arsenal - 7
Watched the game and Everton were magnificent, although the Arse boys didn't turn up and didn't fancy the fight as the Toffees bullied them all over the park. Glad we played them away when we did because they look a different side than the one we turned over 6-2 in December.
Squeeky Bum Time Update after an extraordinary weekend that saw the 4 CL candidates collect a grand total of 1 point between them. With our superior goal difference, any combination of 9 points gained by us and/or dropped by Chelsea and Man U would be enough for us. Remaining fixtures in the race for top 4: Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea all have European semi-finals to play. Tottenham (67 pts, 4 GR): Brighton (H), West Ham (H), Bournemouth (A), Everton (H) Chelsea (67 pts, 3 GR): Manchester United (A), Watford (H), Leicester (A) Arsenal (66 pts, 4 GR): Wolves (A), Leicester (A), Brighton (H), Burnley (A) Manchester United: (64 pts, 4 GR): Manchester City (H), Chelsea (H), Huddersfield (A), Cardiff (H)
Our remaining fixtures (all times ET): April 27 West Ham United (H) 7:30 am April 30 Ajax (H) 3 pm May 4 Bournemouth (A) 7:30 am May 8 Ajax (A) 3 pm May 12 Everton (H) 10 am
Squeeky Bum Time Update Amazingly our top 4 rivals continue to drop points! At Old Trafford, the marionette strings that Sir Alex Ferguson is using to operate OGS are in desparate need of repair, while the Arsenal did what they do best, folding away from home. BTW, I like the Wolves forward Diogo Jota, he would be a perfect fit for us, just saying... With our superior goal difference, any combination of 6 points gained by us and/or dropped by Chelsea/Arsenal would be enough for us. Remaining fixtures in the race for top 4: Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea all have European semi-finals to play. Tottenham (70 pts, 3 GR): West Ham (H), Bournemouth (A), Everton (H) Chelsea (67 pts, 3 GR): Manchester United (A), Watford (H), Leicester (A) Arsenal (66 pts, 3 GR): Leicester (A), Brighton (H), Burnley (A) Manchester United: (64 pts, 3 GR): Chelsea (H), Huddersfield (A), Cardiff (H)
Spurs beat Ajax. Spurs lose to Everton, finishing 6th overall. Arsenal beat Chelsea in the Europa League. Spurs beat Barcelona, on a Victor Jansen goal that goes to VAR in the 123rd minute of the UCL final. Arsenal lose the CL spot. That’s now the only scenario I support. Anything else is too easy.
Not to burst that particular bubble, but under those circumstances Arsenal are in the CL. If there are 2 English winners of the CL and EL who finish outside the top 4, it's the 4th place team who miss out with 5 qualifying.
