I was at the Wolves match (not that being in the stadium gives one better insight --- probably worse in some cases) and the whole squad (other than Leno) looked off. Wolves scored early as a result of a Xhaka giveaway near our own 18. Afterwards, they were very compact and looked to use their speed to hit us on counters, which they probably should've scored from. Yep. Either Andrew or one of the dudes on the Arsenalvision podcast made this exact point recently. I think it was Andrew.
Not about Ozil at all --- just wanted to say that I met your avatar pic in a pub on Liverpool Road back in November. Very friendly. Was shocked that a youngster like me (ha!) knew who he was and had no problem posing for a pic.
That would surely be nice. But from what I've seen of his interviews, he's not the most scintillating a chatter. He's no Charlie George. BUT he was basically the mid/late-70's definition of "a cultured left foot"
I have seen him get quite belligerent and argumentative on irish TV, sometimes I think he had a few before going on air. Charlie George now there's a memory. He is the reason I became an Arsenal Fan. 1971 FA Cup final, prostrating himself on the hallowed turf having scored. That was the moment I discovered idol worship. I may have to go for a lie down, I am feeling quite emotional
I recall there was a very good article about all this last summer, along the lines that some of the people around Ozil had warned him he would never be taken for a "real german" even though he gave up his Turkish citizenship to play for germany. Those voices got more influential after the racism shown during the world cup. So not defending his Erdolf man love - but I guess sadly he has been seduced just as he felt betrayed
I see several posts of yours deleted from this thread that probably should have been infractions. You really want me to delve into this more broadly?
Oh no, the German has been encircled in a trap sprung by his own hubris! This is a unique occurrence never before seen in history!
