By now I'm sure most of the contributors to this section of BigSoccer have seen the Bild image of our possible/probable jersey for next season. For all those in the German-speaking world, what has the reaction been thus far? From reading Keith's list and Manoj's site it would seem responses haven't been particularly good, does that seem to sum up most people's feelings?

The new jersey sux ....thats all you need to know

Nike gave a damn about tradition ... BVBs Colors are BLACK AND YELLOW!! Not ********ing white and Yellow BVB should search for a new jersey designer and sue Nike for producing that shit.

Nike's new jerseys are either excellent or horrible, nothing in between.

    Excellent:
    US National Team shirts
    Mexico shirts
    Brazil shirts
    Holland shirts
    Portugal shirts
    New Arsenal shirt

    Awful and/or Just Plain Weird:
    New Barcelona shirt
    New Juventus shirt
    New Hertha BSC shirt

and now this new BVB abomination. Yellow and white? Looks like a strange piece of hard candy.

IMHO nice design....IF it weren't our home jerseys. Can't believe that they replaced black by white. :-(

If there's enough bad press, they usually retract the jersey and replace it with a more a fan-friendly kit.

I agree that shirt is s#it, but you are also blaming the wrong people. Nike doesn't produce s#it without the club's approval!!

So was there a similar reaction when the club unveiled the 98/99 jersey (with S.Oliver sponsorship) with the white panels down the side and where the only black was on the shirt's collar? I understand why people don't support the design shown in that Bild photo, but I guess what I'm asking is, haven't we already seen something like this?

Yeah. Our "home" jerseys of 2001-2002 were black and yellow striped, but not of the same style. The ones in 2001-2002 looked good on pictures, but when I bought mine, I thought it was hideous.

I still have it though, it's my Heiko Herrlich shirt!

Na there wasnt any reaction like this because the jersey was different to the new one. The white was hidden.
Feck, it is all about the money these days. They give a f*** about tradition and supporters.

They sold the name of the stadium maybe it is not BVB in the new future but Nike09 or something terrible like this.

Still do not get the white...

The black is in the collar. White is neutral, it doesn't matter. This isn't some affront against the club's history, rather, an acknowledgment that you can only do so f#cking much with black and yellow........

For the record, I don't want to see yellow and white either. I think it sucks. But none of this gets done without the approval and agreement of the club.

Wake up man. You need money to survive in this business world and football is very much in the business world.

Nike got behind BVB and offered it the most money when no one else, including Adidas and Puma, would anymore. Of course Nike didn't give us what they did when we were in our prime, but that's just business. Again, where were Adidas and Puma??

If you don't like the business aspects of football, stick to your local team. I'm sure that's still "pure football"....

Like I said before, there's only so much you can do with black and yellow. And this shirt doesn't get done without the club's approval.

I don't like the damned shirt myself, but I'm getting one.

Whethere we like it or not, it's still BVB.........

So, yep. The jersey this year has yellow and white stripes. It's a shame the black is gone. :(

Yeah, schwatzgelb said the fans and club had reached an agreement to make the jerseys yellow and black again next year. That's good news.

Actually, it doesn't look as bad on that photo as I thought it would look. I'm sure I'll get a better look when I'm in Dortmund for the Tottenham match. If they have one without a shirt sponsor or that exclaimation point they are talking about putting on the shirts until the new "RAG" logo is ready, I may pick one up.

Especially if it's going to just be for one year....... :)

I like it. And I don`t mind the missing black because the trousers are black.

Honestly, I think this is the best BVB-Trikot since years.

I think the collar covers it too, but as you said, yeah, the shorts are black, so that should do it even more.

It's a matter of personal preference I guess. I can see how people would get bored with the same old look.

My favorite is still the 2001-2002 jersey with the full yellow body and the shoulders and sleeves in black.

    You know. This one.
