On the list of NYCFC 2018 season ticket enhancements: - "reduced seat inventory, to improve your matchday experience".
Unless they've determined that certain seats are not providing good views of the action, like those which are especially distant and low-angle or have obstructed views this is nonsense.
That's cool and all but Galaxy at number 3?! That's ridiculous, and I actually stopped flipping through shortly after seeing that. They couldn't even find a picture of something other than the generic "hold your scarf up" pic--and it was of about 20 people, no less. Every time I watch a galaxy game I muse that it still sounds like there are 3000 youth soccer kids who've been handed free tickets to Beckham's first game.
Paying off stadium debt. Increased value of land. Paying transfer sums for players. Increase of TAM money. Increase of brand value. The last may seem hokey but if LAG gets twice the amount for a shirt sponsor than random MLS team then the difference is due to their brand. Can't say I why methods were actually used but I'm sure there are well established ones.
Let's see--- a list of "Mythical Europe" teams---just off the top of my head EPL 1) Man U 2) Man Citeh 3) Chelsea 4) Liverpool 5)Arsenal 6)Tottenham La Liga 7) Real Madrid 8) Barcelona 9) Atletico Madrid 10) Sevilla 11) Villareal Serie A 12) Juventus 13) AC Milan 14) Inter Milan 15) Roma 16) Lazio 17) Fiorentina 18) Napoli Bundesliga 19) Bayern Munich 20) Borussia Dortmund Honorable Mention * PSG ** I dont know if Celtic & Rangers count? well i have to say it was tough, but i did barely reach 20. Although some might argue with some of the lower picks i made in each of the leagues. It was not as easy as I thought it would be, and i dont consider myself to be a casual fan. I think i have to agree with the The Franchise a true casual might not even get halfway through the list.
F***ing ESPN being oblivious to the fact that a league they're paying to broadcast has a team that plays in this stadium too. Calm down everyone... others play here too 😎 https://t.co/blIqKx6cKQ— Atlanta United FC (@ATLUTD) August 17, 2017
The Euro Posers don't give a shit about Villarreal, Sevilla (seriously) or Atletico. Nor do they care about Lazio, Fiorentina or Napoli. Throw in PSG because they have all the Neymars, and your list is 15. Outside of those teams, the euro posers simply don't care.
I'd go further and say there are only 13 teams casuals can name: The big 6 EPL teams plus any other team that has a 5-star rating in FIFA Most recognizable to casual fans: Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid "New money" teams: Chelsea, Manchester City Allows Anglophiles to root for a competitive team w/o looking like a glory-hunter: Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool 5-star teams in FIFA that Anglophiles are aware of, but don't support as much since they're not EPL clubs: Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Atlético Madrid, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain Who? Villarreal, Sevilla, Inter, Milan, Lazio, Fiorentina, Napoli, Roma, Schalke, Monaco, etc. Funny thing is, Liga MX teams like Club América and Chivas do better US TV ratings than any European club, but the non-Spanish speaking segment of the US soccer audience probably can't name more than four teams in Liga MX.
I've always wondered what might happen if a channel like BeIn or FS1decided to pick up english language broadcast rights to Liga MX here in the US? Would Liga MX pick up new fans and have its profile ticked up a few notches mentally? There's no way of knowing for sure but it's an interesting thought experiment.
