This is how the best stadiums are built. Squeezed in bit by bit, full of character and history. There are far too few left. In a 100,000 years time beings from across the Galaxy will look down at FC Earth Stadium in Portland and think, that's how a proper stadium should be!
Perhaps...if coaches had used those players correctly...they might not have been flops. Hmmmmmmmmm... Of course, that's just too radical of an idea for the British sporting press to consider...forget I mentioned it, guys!

The land Providence Park is built on was donated to the city by the Multnomah Athletic Club specifically for a sports stadium to be built. Part of that donation is a requirement that the MAC maintain an unobstructed view into the stadium. If their view is obstructed, then ownership of the land reverts back to the health club.. The health club's membership includes pretty much all the movers and shakers in Portland.. So... Yeah.. Building anything on top of the existing stands that obscures the view into the stadium from the MAC is not going to happen.
Plus being able to look into the club at the screens above the machines is the only way for away fans to see replays from their section.
It is. The away fans are in the upper corner in the SW end which actually puts them edge on to the screen on the south end (actually slightly behind edge-on). The only way to see replays was to look to our right through the windows of the club right there to the TVs around the exercise equipment that were tuned to the broadcast of the game.
Thanks. It's such an oddity that if figured there had to be something like that. I appreciate the explanation
