Still hoping Sacramento and St. Louis can be welcomed into the league together. Do you all think it's really more advantageous to make them compete for the spot? At this point? The league appears more excited about St. Louis as a market and location, clearly. But Sacto has been already been competing and upping its bid all this time, and at some point these kicks to the nards must become de-motivational. As usual, no idea what's really going on and what the Sacto hurdles are now. Seems like the league would opt for 29 teams if they knew they were getting a very solid club/market into the fold. Wonder if there's expansion fatigue and/or difficulty scaling up a relatively centralized league? There certainly seemed to be less hype and hoopla around Nashville's recent announcements - feels like the league was disappointed that Nashville logo, events and 2nd round of hires haven't been more buzz-worthy. Or maybe expansion news has lost some of it's novelty and zing when it's happening left and right?
MLS could announce a delay in Austin being ready and bring Sacramento and St. Louis in together. At a later date MLS could announce Austin with a new owner and finalized stadium deal...or announce it just isn't working and hello San Antonio!
(Expansion news till has a lot of zing for me - and I would bet it does for local fans, too. But yeah, it can't feel like "Hey we're getting a Panera.")
I think the league, meaning Don, likes St Louis’ $8Billion more than he likes Sacramento’s $2B. It comes down to that.
Did you know that Panera is a STL company, but there are no Panera's in STL? They are called St. Louis Bread Co. here.
I wish I could remember where I read it, but one of the MLS4TheLou social media followers suggested that Panera should acquire the stadium naming rights and call the stadium the St. Louis Bread Bowl. It was followed by a comment from someone saying they have never hated and loved an idea so much at the same time...
But they love Austin's buck-and-a-half most of all. I just don't get how the BoG sits down with a table full of big time multi-billionaires and Precourt, who isn't remotely in that league. Garber won't even talk to a city that doesn't have a lineup of insanely wealthy investors, but Austin's owner can't afford lunch. It's just weird.
I just want an I70 Derby. When StL and SKC played in the open cup a few years ago it was a great atmosphere.
Then again the BoG also counts Sugarman, Hauptman, and Wolf amongst it's members.......... To be fair, the low rollers are now in the minority.
its simple, really-- when precourt became owner of columbus, he got a deal-- a signed agreement between he and MLS- that he could move the franchise to austin- potential lawsuit if MLS reneged the mystery to me is why MLS allowed this type of agreement, but it could come down to the fact that columbus was a franchise going nowhere when it comes to revenue and imprint- MLS wanted to move the franchise... disgusting as it is the other mystery is- WHY AUSTIN ?? other more viable cities were available, with san antonio heading the list for another texas franchise luckily or whatever, MLS has got an expansion fee of $150 mill (i guess), terrific/community based, wealthy and committed new owners, an eventual new modern stadium DT and a much better franchise revenue potential that will take columbus to new heights it stinks how it was done- a secret agreement that the loyal supporters knew nothing about, but at the end of the day, the franchise is in a great position to enter columbus 2.0
Saw this posted over on reddit... There was a Twitter suggestion that Sunset Hills-based Panera Bread Co. sponsor 'St. Louis Bread Co' go on the home jerseys and 'Panera' on the aways. From this Article:https://kmox.radio.com/articles/st-...r-stadium-naming-rights-jersey-logo-available

What? The I-35 Derby isn't good enough? (Actually, technically, you already have an I-70 Derby. With the Rapids...)
There are 76 cities with more than 250,000 people in the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report.
