Well, that makes no sense. My seats are higher up, so why am I being forced out? I'm assuming they either are behind schedule or installed a test section and found something not to their liking.
Bummed to see Lalas Hill go, though I never made use of it, the picnic vibe on sellout games was cool & unique feature of the stadium. Blue seats up top? Can’t image the green seats in the main bowl last bast this off season. Which is cool, the green seats have always felt a bit of an anachronism once the rebrand happened. Superficial, but I’d appreciate an all-blue – or I suppose blue & yellow since it works for the Chargers as well – will continue the progress in making StubHub feel like LA’s home stadium. I wonder if they’re planning on adding half a section each time LA goes on the road … I thought the NFL season overlapped with MLS and I’m sure they’ve sold at least some of those seats. Weird.
Talked to my ticket rep today and she said they're just behind on the upper deck seats and all should be replaced well before the end of the season.
I remember when they installed seats in the Rose Bowl where my bleacher seats were. Effect was to reduce the pitch and jam my knees against the back of the next row. Miserable and required a re-do, I think.
Those seats were miserable. I remember being at a UCLA football game just after those were installed. We were sitting in the same row as George Zidek (the 7 foot center from the 1995 UCLA championship basketball team). That poor guy's knees were next to his ears.
2nd video board going up. i wonder if they'll manage to F up the aspect ratio on this one too and then try to fix it by making a third of it ads Oooh lala! 😍😍😍@StubHubCenter installs a new, second videoboard. 👌 pic.twitter.com/oh6UT684Os— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) June 14, 2017
One of the byproducts of the Chargers deal is that our Stadium signage sponsorship deals should suddenly be worth a whole lot more. The chance of being seen on an NFL broadcast ups the ante quite considerably. I have no doubt that they leveraged the Chargers deal and the new video board to get this Universal Studios signage deal and got them to agree to a deal to sponsor the Galaxy too.
In the press release about the new giant LED video board for the south side of the stadium and the smaller "ribbon" boards around the stadium, they mention some new signal processing gear as well that has been installed "for the unique shapes and aspect ratios of the LED displays inside the stadium". Fingers crossed this is what was needed to output the proper aspect ratios to the big screens and we now will have it configured properly....
New scoreboard was nice. I will miss the unique nature of the grass berm. Won't judge the new seats up there till they are done.
It still has ads/score/time on both sides and the south side doesn't so, both boards' area of display for video are actually pretty close in size.
I couldn't tell whether that was for revenue & game reasons rather than tech reasons though. I thought I recall some segments that took up the entire screen on the big board and they looked fairly normal, but I'm no expert.
They get rid of SOG from the score board. I assume because it was too embarrassing, but maybe I'm wrong. And now there's no game clock on the south scoreboard, which is annoying. With the Galaxy attacking south and time waning I keep looking up confused to not see those red numbers there.
apparently Chargers and Rams tearing up the field today... Thing to look for at today's scrimmage with the @Chargers: the absolute destruction of the Stub Hub grass. 180 guys on one field.— Johnny Hekker (@JHekker) August 5, 2017
