In either case, I don't rate Arena. Again, some guys get different treatment no matter how many mistakes they make. Arena's pets. Omar is one.

Other than that, it is fine. Though I might have gone more defensive with a lot of route 1 expected & played another CM for second balls & less space for knockdowns.

    Didn't play for the Galaxy.

That's a HUGELY ENORMOUSLY GIGANTIC negative against him.

Arena = JK. There's no difference in their incoherent call-ups or starting 11.

Or Cameron just came back from a fairly lengthy injury and Bruce is concerned he's not up to game speed for a crucial qualifier.

We were up early and didn't need a creative player, so he clogged it up with McCarty. Had it been 1-0 or maybe even 2-0 I think Benny gets the nod and McCarty would have come in for Wood. Would be surprised if he doesn't get in the game at some point tonight if the US play uninspired, probably for Jozy. But Bruce is just as easy to figure out as Klinsmann.

Just as, if not more scary, is his other pet Gyasi. If not for injury he very well might be out there too.

Perhaps for Christmas we should get Arena two hamsters named Omar and Gyasi so we won't have to put up with this next year.

Is this from a US fan or someone from Russia. Fake news.

That is the much less likely explanation, as Cameron played well for Stoke immediately preceding, Bruce benched him last camp in favor of Gonzalez, and Gonzalez has also been favored over the likes of Besler + Miazga. In addition, of course we know they have a history together that predated this stint with the national team, and Bruce has displayed the tendency to have loyalties before.

Which is why he should never have been brought back.

Hopeful that Omar doesn't have that Omar moment in this one. Besler is going to be vital. And Bradley will have to be in better position than he normally is on long balls. Ugly game tonight.

Eh he had one job, and pending tonight, he'll have accomplished that task. Bruce was an emergency, pragmatic hire. It doesn't excuse the mistake of letting Jurgen start this cycle, and it doesn't make Bruce a great option this WC or next.

It just makes him the right man for the right time.
