    Time : 21:00 LOCAL TIME, GMT 18:00
    Day : Friday, June 3, 2005
    Occasion : World Cup Qualifications
Venue : Riyadh, King Fahd Stadium [IMG]
Capacity Of Stadium : Around 70,000

Both teams are going into this game with huge pressure on both sides from their media, both teams will be looking for only 3 points, a draw will help South Korea and probably give South Korea a huge chance to qualify, the Gulf Derby will be the most important game for each side in the last years, the question is, will KSA be able to satisfy its 70,000 fans that will be expecting to arrive like in the first round, or will Kuwait suprise KSA and win the 3 points?

    Saudi Arabia [IMG] :
Saudi Arabia will enter the game with their eyes on the 3 points and no else. Saudi Arabia has been able to do well in their campaign till now, with drawing with Uzbekistan and Kuwait away, and winning South Korea at home. Playing with most of its main players and stars like Sami AlJaber, Yasser AlGahtani, Roda Tokar, and Mobrouk Zayed. And the return of Talal AlMeshal, one of the dangerous Saudi strikers in the past from injury, after a good performance with Ahli scoring crucial goals for Ahli in AFC and Arab Champion League and the Saudi League. Saudi Arabia will do its best to satisfy its 70,000 fans, and after satisfying friendly results with a 1-0 win against Morocco, and a 1-1 tie with Bahrain. Expected line up is :

    Mabrouk Zayed
Abdul Ghani - Roda Tokar - Montashri - Bahry
    Shalhoub - Aziz - Kariri - Suwaid
    Jaber - Gahtani

    Kuwait [IMG] :
Kwuait will be entering this game without any questions, 3 points is a must for them, a tie will be satisfying for them, but a win will be their main goal. Kwuait began with a disappointing lost against SK away, but came back with a win against Uzbekistan at home, but ended their 1st round with a tie with KSA at home. 1st round was okay for most Kuwaiti fans, but most will be wanting a win or at least a tie at Riyadh. A lost will cause them to go through a complicated games depending on other teams result. Uzbeks will probably hope for Kuwait to lose, or a draw, since if Kuwait lose, they might have to fight for third place with the Uzbeks. A win will give them good chances to reach Germany 2006, and the Korea x Kuwait at home will be the most decisive game after the Saudi game. Kuwait hade an away training campaign in Greece and lost to Egypt in a friendly 1-0.

    Statements From Both Sides :

Kuwait Coach : 70 thousand Saudis scare me

Khaled AlFahd : Saudi NT is weak and we came to take the game's 3 points

Caledron Saudi Coach : My answer to the President of the Kuwaiti Squad will be in the field, and Laheeb wont affect us

Yasser AlQahtani : The fans are the number 1 player, and our answer in this round will be the planning of qualification

Sami AlJaber to the Saudi fans : Help us, and we will make you happy

Shalhoub : Talal AlMeshal will be able to make us win

Hilal President : The finishing must begin in Riyadh

Mohammed Jarakh : Germany 2006 is the Blues dream

President Of Kuwaiti NT AlSahw : Saudi Arabia is our gate to Germany

Prediction 2-1 win for Saudi....the saudis seem to be in good form and were very dangerous on the offence against us in the last friendly. Although kuwait lost against Egypt they might manage to surprise once again.

The great thing about a Kuwait vs KSA match, is that it is hard to predict the score.

The match can go ither way. It will be hard fought, who will be the ref.?

I watched a TV show tonight about the match, the host was Ibraheem Aljaber. He kept gloryfying our team, and puting down kuwait's team. Guests on the program kept arguing with him about this, he tourned on them too.

I know he got bitten by kuwait media, but using saudi TV to show settle some personal scores shame on him...

You have the right to predict whatever you want. Why would I be angry?

    Good luck to Bahrain.

    Preview by Goal.com

    Saudi Arabia - Kuwait

The two teams in second and third place know that a victory on June 3rd will give them their qualification chances a huge boost.

The corresponding fixture in Kuwait City on March 30, finished goalless and the game in Riyadh promises to be equally cagey as both teams will be desperate to avoid defeat.

The Saudis, who have impressed since the arrival of Argentine coach Gabriel Calderon, are difficult to beat at home, as they demonstrated with an impressive 2-0 victory over South Korea in March, their only home fixture so far.

The former international defender who has a wealth of World Cup experience, will be anxious for his team to maintain their points advantage over Kuwait, to secure qualification for a fourth successive World Cup. A victory would open up a four point advantage over Kuwait with just two games remaining and would give the team a chance to banish memories of that night in Sapporo three years ago.

Since their dismal showing in the 2002 World Cup the Saudis have been in erratic form but so far this year, Calderon seems to have to have steadied the ship. The vibrant attacking duo of young Yasser Al-Qahtani and veteran Sami Al Jaber, looking to appear in a fourth World Cup, could be too much for the Kuwaitis to handle, even with the injured duo of Abduallah Al Wakad and Hamad Al Issa

The former Real Betis and Paris St.Germain defender is pleased with his team’s results in two recent friendly games; a 1-0 victory over Morocco and a 1-1 draw with Bahrain.

Kuwait usually don’t travel well but the journey to the King Fahad Stadium in Riyadh is a relatively short one. However, there won’t be much of a welcome awaiting the visitors with 80,000 fans screaming the home team on. Coach Slobodan Pavkovic will hope to frustrate those fans with an tight defence and an incisive attack.

The 1982 World Cup participants have recovered well from a dismal defeat in the opening game in Seoul, and will again be looking to inspirational striker Bashar Abdullah to score the goals to take them to only their second World Cup appearance in their history.

‘The Ronaldo of the Middle East’ has scored both of his country’s goals so far and will be relieved that some of the burden will be shared by strike partner Bader Al Mutwa.
