Is that your hand? It looks like my daughter's did several years ago when she broke a bone in her hand.
It's Friday and I just pulled an all-nighter writing my thesis... Oh well... as long as I can grab a few brewskies tonight, it's all good! Plus, we get to indulge in nerdy WC speculation all day!
I did a mock draw yesterday over at the German club over lunch. Here's the results (asterisk is projected group winner; double asterisk is runner-up): A1 Germany* A2 Paraguay A3 Poland** A4 Costa Rica B1 France* B2 Togo B3 Croatia** B4 Saudi Arabia C1 Mexico* C2 Angola C3 Switzerland C4 Japan** D1 Argentina** D2 Ghana D3 Czech Republic* D4 Serbia E1 Italy* E2 Ecuador E3 Ukraine** E4 Trinidad F1 Brazil* F2 Ivory Coast F3 Portugal** F4 Iran G1 England** G2 Australia G3 Holland* G4 USA H1 Spain** H2 Tunisia H3 Sweden* H4 Korea
Certainly not the "wurst" though... All 3 would be tough, but we could draw worse from each pot. All in all though, there isn't going to be many easy groups this year.
In my draw, the Germans did pretty well. Paraguay is a tough draw, but they did well with Costa Rica (who I think is down this year and won't be nearly as competitive as in 2002) and Poland (one of the weaker Euro draws). The US draw is fairly brutal. Just saw an article on Soccernet in which the England coach said that exact pairing would be his nightmare scenario.
Germany group looks fine in your forecast. but USA group hard one, USA-England hm..and Australia actually it does not play which group we will have..we can make it bltleo
To tell you the truth, I really have not given it much thought. Certain teams I would like to avoid: England, Holland, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, the usual big squads. Then again, those teams would get us pretty pumped and would make for exciting games. As I said before, just getting out of the group would be good, or if we do get put in a "group of Death" that we at least make a good show of it. I have no shame in going out of the group phase if the group ends up being tough.
