New article not a lot of new information but he mentions wanting to play in MLS or even USL http://www.footballitaliano.co.uk/p...ormer-napoli-youngster-vincenzo-bernardo.html I think he's been training with Harrisburg City Islanders based on some tweets
I think he's going to Harrisburg City Islanders. Recent tweets about "People in the USA will finally get to see me play" and "Packing for Harrisburg". Harrisburg fans said he trialed with the team in June.
Good for him, definitely a step in the right direction in my opinion, but still nowhere near the Olympic pool that he thinks he's in.
From his latest tweets, it appears he may have signed with Harrisburg: I'm wearing the number 7 for the rest of the season. Get your jerseys now!! Back in jersey for the night. Getting all my belongings, harrisburg tomorrow
They have a partnership with Philadelphia that, as noted, helped Philadelphia find their best player (this season at least). I don't think he's on the MLS radar at all, but he at least has an avenue.
He is very close to no longer being a topic in this forum (at least for awhile). The City Islanders have signed midfielder Vincenzo Bernardo, ... but the 21-year-old’s availability is contingent upon U.S. Soccer approval. I can't believe he is still listed as 5'6" and 145 lbs at the age of 21.
Well, the ink in even a couple dozen tattoos reading "I am the Greatest!" doesn't actually add all that much weight.
I'm now 28 and 5'8" and 145, juuuuust saying. although last time I saw a video of Bernardo play he looked pretty damn stocky
That size (or lack thereof) will be a limiting factor on his career progression. If he were an accountant, I wouldn't comment on it. Of course I haven't posted on BigCPA in years so its a moot point
I know he's no longer a YA but Harrisburg are playing by local USL team Bernardo is here and yes he's short. I don't think he's going to be starting. I'm curious to see if he gets on the field for someone with so much hype I want to see him play
Last update I saw (before lunch today) his paperwork hadn't been approved yet. Unless it went through this afternoon, he is not eligible to play for Harrisburg.
Congrats to Bernardo on making this move. He'll be around friends as his teammates on the Islanders will include a pair of his former HS teammates at St. Benedict's - Jose Angulo (who was once Ives Galarcep's new pus$y infatuation as a high schooler) and Nelson Becerra, who played four seasons of college ball at St. John's and was the Big East midfielder of the year.
http://blog.pennlive.com/upper90/2011/07/qa_with_new_city_islander_vinc.html He should debut with HCI this weekend.
Which means he's not a Yank Abroad in any way, shape, or form. Arrivederci Vincenzo. We hardly knew ye.
Any news on him. Is he going back to Europe? I dont see him on the Harrisburg Islander roster. Is his hype bigger than Max Cream?
He was at the NASL combine. http://www.socceroverthere.com/?p=8216 He has tweeted about being in North Carolina recently. I would assume he's on the trialist circuit right now.
It recently caught my attention that one of Bernardo's teammates from the Napoli youth squad is doing quite well in Serie B these days with Pescara: 13 goals this season and the team is in a promotion spot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorenzo_Insigne Another short withdrawn forward. IIRC, they were more or less competing for the same place back then.
A trial in Guatemala with Deportivo Coatepeque? The next American trialist with the club isn't of Guatemalan descent, but his name may ring a bell for some US fans: Vincenzo Bernardo, a former US youth international from New Jersey who played in Napoli's youth system. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder would mark a major signing coup for Coatepeque. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/07/05/gringo-report-american-revolution-hand-guatemala
