Way overdue. He has been massively overrated since coming to England with nothing to show for it.

Everton have been incredibly unlucky. They've been better than Arsenal in both attack and defense this season.

Regardless, Silva has been coasting on an undeserved reputation. His English experience is:

    1) nearly saving Hull but then collapsing at the end of the season with 3 consecutive losses by a combined 12 goals to Sunderland, Crystal Palace, and Tottenham. Sacked after the season.

    2) starting a season well with Watford, having his head turned by Everton, then failing to win 10 of his last 11 league games before getting sacked in January, having dropped from 4th to 10th.

    3) finishing 8th with an Everton team that finished...8th the season before, then driving them into 18th place near the midway point of the next season.

Not a sparkling resume as far as I'm concerned.

I wonder if big Duncan will get a better rise out of his lads than our Freddie has been able to.

Why does Everton get the new manager bounce and we don’t. Seems a little unfair.

Gladbach Bayern first half reminds me of Barcelona at the Emirates in 2010.

I don’t understand why we didn’t go for Marcus Thuram. He seems better than Pepe.

Wow, quite the shocker at Eastlands. United put City 14pts behind Liverpool, and put themselves into a European slot.

Lesson: don't prejudge the outcomes of teams or managers too early in a season.

Man City are probably still the best team in the league, and Liverpool are going to win it in a stroll. That's some voodoo doll John Henry has.

OMG that is one of the best goals I've seen. Suarez really came good at Barca. But still, I'm not lamenting our "decision" to not sign him years back.

It’s an amazing goal by Suarez. Why did you tag me though?

I was away this weekend so I'm catching up on matches on my DVR.

Just watched the first 30' of the Mancs Derby. United are up 2-0 by getting their tactics right: cede possession to City (70%), sit back and then counter whenever you have a chance.

Reminded me of when Wenger did the same when we went away to City several years back and came back with a famous 2-0 upset. I guess it was Pellegrini's last season, just before Pep. But the same approach would probably help next weekend when Pep comes to town. Even if that's not "how you're supposed to play at home"

I also just rewatched Everton-Chelsea where Everton upset them by 3-1 employing similar tactics

History is littered with other examples of this: Leicester's title run anyone?

Reminding us that although it's nice to have a "play football the proper way" philosophy, there are plenty of times when you have to throw that out the window to get the desired result.

Just zipped through the Salzburg-Liverpool match.

Serious kudos to Jesse Marsch's team who went toe to toe with the champions for most of the match, had them on the back foot a lot, played a high-press, blitzkrieg counter game, with pacy line-splitting thruballs. Great fun to watch... reminded me of the best times of RBNY when he was our coach.

And made me a little jealous in comparison to the stuff that Arsenal have been playing for more than a few years.

Unfortunately for Salzburg they ended up losing 0-2 and jettison to Europa. And it may be unfortunate for us if we meet them there.

Marsch knows his stuff, huh? I knew nothing about his RBNY sides but have been impressed by this RBS... they have some great attacking moments in the CL this season. Curious to see where he ends up in the next handful of years as a manager.

Yeah, at FT when the two managers came together, you could see Klopp with his big smile saying just "WOW" to Marsch. So that either meant "wow, what a match that was" or "wow, you guys are good".
