When Stokes had that ball deflect for an extra 4 right after he was caught on the boundary but the fielder stepped on the rope to make it 6 I knew it was not our day
That was one of the cruelest losses I've ever seen. I'm referring, of course, to the Wimbledon final. The Cricket World Cup final, I don't have words for. I've never seen anything like that. That deserves a new entry on Bill Simmons's Levels of Losing scale.
Bizarre to lose on an arbitrary count back - but we knew we needed 2 off the last ball It turns out we was robbed, as England should have only be credited with 5 for the overthrows not 6 you couldn't make it up
What are the chances that Hawkeye gives an "umpire's call" on a ball that according to Hawkeye is clearing hitting leg stump? Does that happen a lot? Roy falling for a duck would've changed things greatly.
People cared about Wimbledon. But as awesome as the Wimbledon match was, it was only the second best contest in London yesterday.
The commentary alone worth of repeat. A beauty by mahrez in the stroke of 90min. pic.twitter.com/oP6oVGyJRr— Bolanalytics (@Bolanalytics) July 15, 2019 English dont care at all about AFCON?
Think its difficult to be excited about a tournament your team isn't playing in e.g. I watched some of the Womens' Wold Cup largely because Germany gets very excited about it. I don't watch any regional tournaments
Group stages are usually the best part of any tournament, like the first weekend of the NCAAs is better than the rest.
Yeah, and I bet most of them weren't Swiss or Serbs. Djoko fans at Centre Court were way outnumbered by Fed fans, by at least 4 to 1 it seemed. Novak lives an interesting tennis life where he's one of the greatest players of all time, and yet he doesn't seem as loved as he he could or should be.
Part of it is that Djokovic seems like a jerk, and part of it is that Federer makes it look so incredibly effortless. Djokovic and Nadal are 32, which is on the older side for tennis, but other players that age have played at a very high level. Maybe Federer's doping, but he's probably just a freak of nature.
Unlikely the reason. The women's game is wide open these days. Only the men's game has this dominant triumvirate. That just happens in sports sometimes. And we've had it now in men's tennis for a little while now. In a few years it'll be all over I suspect.
Federer is one of the classiest athletes there has ever been. He also is near to being the most talented and successful of all time. Even if Djoko surpasses him in major titles (and I'm sure that's his goal), he'll never hold a candle in my book.
He will be in about 4 years when he’s eclipsed federer God knows who will take the mantle after these guys
He don’t need the majors record for me. Joker is the best player we have seen. Since he won his second major in 2011, he been better than Nadal and Fed Dawg.
Djokovic mostly won after Federer turned 30 though. The only knock on Federer is that he couldn't beat Nadal in Paris. His peak was something else. 20 straight grand slam semis and ten straight finals (only losses in those finals was to Nadal) is mindboggling. From 2005-2010, if Federer was on your side of the draw, you'd be safe in booking your plane ticket for the day after you could face him.
I'd take 2009/10 Nadal over anyone -- even though that Nadal only lasted a couple of years in that form. The man would injure himself to win (that crazy arm contortion to get maximum top spin). And we have to give the man credit for winning the french 12+ times -- you don't win that tournament without pure grit and a great overall game. All said, I hate to give men's tennis a goat. There have been too many great players to give it up right now. I feel like they haven't quite had their MJ moment yet.
