Saw that on Instagram. Embarrassing really, being exposed in such a basic level of analysis. The team is full of passengers though, ppl who the game has left behind. I doubt anyone who follows EU politics is shocked the Germans are hubristic though.
So TH14 takes the Monaco job instead of Villa, Bordeaux, etc. He has obvious links to ASM but I feel a little nervous for him. Like if his personnel demands on Bordeaux scuttled that deal (as were reported), how is he going to deal with Monaco continuing to sell its best young players for profit? Also, Monaco isn't exactly a safe little club for your first attempt at management... they probably have pressure to earn a UCL spot, and currently sit just out of relegation by goal difference. I will root for his success, maybe even a little more than I may be rooting for Paddy@Nice, but I am still a little dubious about Thierry being up for this challenge. If he's still in the job at New Year's that may be a good sign.
I wasn't really doing precise math... just thinking like 3 months. But sure, if he doesn't win much of anything in 2.5 months, I think he'll be under big time pressure. But let's just hope his late career captaincy at NYRB, and his year or two helping Roberto at Belgium, will provide him with the man management skills to avoid that. Oh and another thing that spell in NY/NJ will prepare him for... playing in front of half-empty stadia.
Don’t think Barney Ronay has ever written anything good before: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...inho-manchester-united-chelsea-maurizio-sarri Headline (paraphrased): Like the plague, has José Mourinho run out of people to kill?
Frankly enjoying the chaos going on at Real. Once again, Perez thinks he's smarter than everyone and it blows up in his face.
Haven't read the inside baseball re: Zizou leaving but I wouldn't be surprised if part of it was Perez' meddling.
I don't follow LaLiga but I got the impression Zidane left because: a) they sold Ronaldo b) he saw the writing on the wall c) it's a burnout job there IOW, it was his decision not Perez's
http://www.espn.com/soccer/blog/mar...00/fifa-council-could-change-football-forever This is nuts. Way to burn out football.
Ya, why is fifa getting involved in club footy? I know for money, but why do they need money? I hate fifa so much. So corrupt, so pointless.
FIFA clearly has money, but their power is only visible 4 weeks every 4 years at the World Cup. (For those of us for Women's Equality, double that to 8 weeks every 4 years to include the Women's WC. But FIFA seems to care little about it, nor does WWC generate the revenue that's Men's does, so let's disregard this from the discussion) So I think it's more of a Power Grab than a Cash Grab - though it heavily involves a lot more cash as well. If you think about it, there are probably only a dozen or so countries who would be significantly impacted by a Club World Cup (England, Spain, Germany, France, amd Italy being the most notable), but the appeal to the rest of the ~200 FIFA member countries is that they capture a share of the FIFA revenues from new FIFA events that they received nothing from in the past. Clearly, FIFA would have enough votes for such a move since most countries would want more money, while understandably UEFA would be negatively impacted as this may somewhat affect the Euros but definitely undermine the Champs League.
Es oficial: Lopetegui's out at Real. Really enjoy when one of Perez's strongarm moves blow up in his face.
