Same. That plus not many players I like in the squad anymore.

I don't think I'll be buying anymore either. My daughter didn't want to play soccer this year. Also, I bought most with the idea of handing them down to my brother for his kid -- he is an Arsenal fan, too, and always buys me Arsenal things for my birthday and xmas -- and he doesn't even know where he put the 3 I gave to him. His kid has grown out of the shirt, onesie, and PJ set that I gave to him without ever wearing them. It was a little easier to justify the high cost when I thought they'd get used by more than just my one kid.

I'll have the Puma kit like your son is wearing up for sale soon if anyone is interested. 4T or 5T.

No doubt there! How much did Ashburton Grove cost us, all said and done?

Just saw the highlights of Podolski's goal tonight in his final match for Germany. Wow! That's one of the reasons I always liked Lukas when he was with us.

good goal, but he was pretty average with us. his shot reminds me of Riise,or Albertz who played for Rangers years ago. probably found some discarded rifles and surgically molded it to their left feet or something.

Same old England though. I love Wrigthy and Dixon as we all would but then to say we were unlukcy is bull. We had chances, we didn't take them, we caved in once they scored anyhow.

Headed to London tomorrow. Would it be worth my effort to check out the AFC Wimbledon match on Tuesday night? Seats are unavailable, so I'd have to watch from the terrace with the ball & chain.

I was talking to a friend about this, I don't see myself on the US team. Myself or people like me. Its really hard for me to root for them because I don't think they represent my America and they do not want to represent my America. Bruce Arena's Trump-inspired comments about foreign born American citizens really hit that home for me, but I felt that way long before. It is not just race either, but class, culture, etc. I look at US Soccer and I see it a tier below rowing.

Shame Wales drew. I want themt to qualify, and not just for Ramsey but Bale. One of the few ex-Tottenham players I really rate (alongside Defoe, Gazza, Lineker and Modric).

I'm a white American guy and all of my great-grandparents were born in America. I have ancestors that came to America in the late 1600s. So heritage-wise I don't have another country to fall back on. My view of the "American-ness" of the team is more about spirit and attitude than where people are from. That may be a different view than a lot of USMNT fans. There are tons of dual-nationals and immigrant players who embody that spirit better than players born in the US. I genuinely don't care where a guy was born, but I do care if they are committed to that spirit. I don't think Klinsmann had that and there were a few players that didn't have it either.

Yeah; definitely didn't see that result coming. However, they needed that type of result to boost their confidence heading into the Panama game.

thats fine, and that is your story. I am not asking for another country to fall back to or anything. I look at the US team and its hard for me to relate to them. I really want to as well, but the players, a lot of the fans, and the system in this country for soccer just makes it hard for me to relate.

What aspect of the team do you find it difficult to relate to? I'm struggling to come up with any group of people in the US who are seriously underrepresented in that team.

Serious question: Does any of that translate over MLS or other teams?

    Not really

But MLS isn't saying it reps the city it's located. It's a franchise.

When you say we are your national team, it is supposed to represent America.
