    Re: Vfl BOCHUM THREAD

Maybe we can get Grönemeyer to post here. Ok, it's Grönemeyer, but even a second-rate rock star is still a rock star...

Not much going on here... As a new Bochumer I might have to keep this thread alive from time to time :)

Vfl lost 2-3 to Leverkusen last weekend. Almost pulled back after being down 3-0, but in the end it just wasnt enough...

I gotta say I like the Ruhrstadion! Its definitely one of the cooler stadiums around!

What else is there to say?! Nothing... Allright, until next year then! :D

Well Canadian Daniel Imhof who has been pretty solid as a def midfielder the past year or so is out for up to 4 weeks with a knee problem (missed the Leverkusen game). The other Canadian on the team, Dani Fernandes, is looking pretty good in his first stint in the Bundesliga.

Man, I haven't been on here for years... I can't believe this thread is still running... well sort of haha!!!

DIEGO KLIMOWICZ you better score those goals we need to stay in the 1st!!! I mean seriously... no need to get relegated now! He is a great player that just didn't fit to Dortmund, pretty much since he was transfered there I believe.

Anybody know why Daniel Fernandes is not even on the bench these days (he started most of the games as GK last season).
    Thanks.

He lost in the pre-season the duell with Heerwagen, who is now regular keeper. And Luthe, who is four years younger than Heerwagen and Fernandes also didn't play bad when he came in.

I suggest, that Bochum waits for offers for Fernandes from other clubs.

Anybody know, has Tese been playing poorly lately or why is he on the bench at the moment against Fortuna? I think he's been on the bench already for a week or two now?

Tough for Bochum. Ostrzolek gets a second yellow, immediately after that Hertha score to make it 0-2. There goes also Bochum's long streak (11 or 12 games?) of being undefeated.

    Was a good match, though.

Even more matches, it was a streak of 15 undefeated matches for Bochum. Hertha was the better team today, deserved 3 points for them.

I'm no longer worrying about Hertha messing up on the home stretch. Much as I don't worry about Schalke failing to make it to the CL semis.

Time to relax and enjoy. :)

The 2nd league is still very exciting with the battle for the 3rd place. Bochum have been poor lately, but they should be able to win at home against Union today (game starts soon). Augsburg have a tougher opponent on Monday when they play at Cottbus. Should they lose and Bochum win, it could even become interesting for the 2nd place.

After this weekend the last two gamedays:

    Osnabrück - Bochum
    Bochum - Duisburg

That doesn't seem too difficult for Bochum.

    At the same time:

    Augsburg - Frankfurt
    Hertha - Augsburg

I know Hertha will want to give their fans one last show and are the favorites in that match.

    We'll see.

Yea, i think with win today and Furth losing last weekend to 1860 you guys are very very likely to at least take 3rd. Catching Augsburg is probably too much, but who knows. The problem is their goal differential which will help them in any tie breaker. We'll see. If you guys do take 3rd...who are you hoping to face from the Bundesliga for the play-off?

I think Bochum (or anyone else) would have the best chances against Eintracht, because they still haven't convinced me under Daum. Teams to avoid - for me - are Gladbach (if they sensationally do make it 16th) and Wolfsburg (Magath-effect kicking in?).

But overall, and what has really struck me this season, is the professionalism of the teams in the top third of the second league. They play some really balanced and matured football and I'm sure whoever finishes third will give the 1st league team a run for their money. Of course the second league side will dream big, but the pressure is still on the first league team, so I'd hate to be 16th in the BL this season!

I'd say Gladbach is the clear favourite. They're clearly an improved side, of late.
