I always forget about him also. If he was born just 5 months later than he was, I think he would be talked about a lot more on big soccer.
Would like to see him move for the Clausura. Unfortunately he's not breaking into America as a starter anytime soon, which isn't necessarily a bad thing in regards to his abilities, but think he'll have a better chance at a smaller LigaMX club. He's 22 y/o now (month older than Nick Hagglund), time to make that move into a full time 1st team starter somewhere, not just a CopaMX and CCL player. The Necaxa loan last year was great, but now it feels like he's back to where he was before that loan.
Ventura Alvarado (Defender) has been with Club America for quite a while rising through the ranks in America's U'17s and U'20s and now with the senior team. America, as you all should know, is arguably within Mexico's top 3 clubs if not the best. Given the fact that he's a Yank and he's Abroad, giving him his own thread only makes sense. Any thoughts? Here's his wikipedia link. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ventura_Alvarado
He's had his own thread for years http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/ventura-alvarado-in-mexico.952645/page-4#post-30965820
Hmm... I was looking for it flipping through the pages but didn't find it. Must be way in the back. Anyway, I think JK should look into this guy. He might be worth it.
he is going to start against Atlas today and apparently he has rejected several calls from the USSF because he wants to play for Mexico.
here is the interview (in spanish) Cumple el sueño 'mexicano' the game against Atlas starts at 3pm PST, rojadirecta.me usually has links.
He didn't actually say that he preferred to play for Mexico in the interview. I'm sure he'll do whatever is best for his career and if Klinsmann gives him a call, I'm sure he'll consider.
He didn't actually say that in the interview but that's what the site reports and call ups for US youth teams is what is being mentioned. I bet it would be different if Klinsmann called him. Who knows hope he makes it on either team though he's got a cool name.
We also heard Luis Martir wasn't going to accept any more US callups. We'll just have to see what happens.
Does it even matter? This guy isn't eligible for YNT's anymore, and he's barely played any minutes this season with Club America. He has a long way to go before either National Team would even think about calling him up.
Well since he plays at 1 of the 2 most famous/historic clubs in Mexico if he cements a starting position he will get a look from Mexico eventually. America is currently one of the best Mexican teams
Is there any indication that he actually will secure regular playing time? Its been a few seasons now that he's been with the first team. He even went out on loan and did well, but couldn't get regular playing time when he came back from his loan.
That moment when there's 2 contrasting reports. . http://m.mlssoccer.com/news/article...ventura-alvarado-open-usmnt-call-contrary-rep
Due to injury, starting tonight in the 1st leg of the Liga MX Apertura semifinals vs. Monterrey. By far the biggest start of his career. Match kicks off at 10et on Unimas and Univision Deportes.
