Necaxa up 1-0 at ‘67. Rayados down to ten after Hurtado got a red at ‘39.

    I didn’t realize VA is Necaxa’s captain.

Sun-in must be on sale in Aguascalientes.

Final 1-0. Necaxa should have scored at least two more. Only saw the second half but VA was solid. The return will be a challenge.

If GB is going to callup a CB from mexico it should be VA not omar gonzalez.

IIRC he's moved in and out of the role all season long. Still pretty amazing that he's considered at all. I'd love for 3G to give him another shot on the national team

Agree. If it’s true that defenders, particularly central defenders, perform better with some seasoning, he should be hitting his prime years. He certainly deserves consideration for a call up, IMHO. It’s a bit disappointing that there has been no contact from the new regime (according to the interview BostonRed posted above).

No surprise, starting the return leg at Monterrey. Top of the hour, Fox Deportes.

    Ended as a 1-0 loss.

I do not follow Liga MX very closely... apparently Monterrey advances because they were seeded higher? The tie ended 1-1 with both teams scoring at home, but there was no added time or penalties.

Also, I missed this interview where he plainly states that he wants another chance with the national team: https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/alv...ing-necaxa-can-lead/vre2ntx8gtdt1se3os9z2s9dc

edit: according to the Liga MX website, Alvarado had the captains armband again.
